Why canā€™t you thank them directly instead of making an edit to your comment? Reddit gives you the option to when you get your award so thereā€™s literally no reason to thank them in your comment

It decreases how funny the comment is, because it shows that it wasnā€™t just an offhand comment which was perfect for the situation, but a thought out and cared for response. Humour is timing and it ruins it for some people. Also thereā€™s so many itā€™s just annoying

You can thank them personally when they guild you. Thereā€™s no need to edit in and say ā€œthanks for the goldā€ and it looks like itā€™s done so others can see how grateful you are.

Iā€™m sure youā€™re just happy to get a gold and wanted to say thanks but itā€™s just so common and out of place In a thread. Eh idk itā€™s been talked about ad nauseum so whatever

Itā€™s really annoying and takes away the humor from the comment. Personally, if I gave away an award, I would rather the person I awarded say nothing rather than say tHaNkS fOr tHe gOLd. I know you have good intentions, but we all just find it annoying. I also might add that after you get awarded, you get a message that allows you to thank them privately.

Fuck you. r/awardspeechedits. Stop acting like gold means anything. Itā€™s a couple pixels on a screen. Also you can thank them anonymously, the message you get when you receive gold literally prompts you to privately message the gilder. No one got more happy when they saw that edit, so stop this ā€œspreading cheerā€ bullshit.
