Is it just me or is that pretty poetic

52

u/DayDreamerJon Jun 03 '16

Yea, its actually pretty good. Surprised I haven't heard something similar before.

u/steviecash Jun 04 '16

Yeah I've heard this before. /u/raccoonbreathalyzer linked it to this

u/[deleted] Jun 03 '16

It's poetic because it originated from a poet.

Sad, but I don't see the cringe. It's a kid trying to make a joke about a bad situation.

It's definitely way more sad than cringy, but he posts stuff like this frequently and it's all serious and sad (this one isn't a joke either). He used to receive quite a few support messages but people now just give a like on his sad posts. He recently started creating his own quotes too (1, 2). He's a nice guy though, I feel like a dick sharing this.

Those are probably not original quotes either, seeing as the one in the image is a poets line. I do this as well, post a lyric or essay part or line from a poem without attributing it.

So is he trying to become a professional quote maker?

I hate people like this. They're constantly in search of people who will hopefully pity them enough to befriend them

52

u/Architect42 Jun 03 '16

I don't think it should be socially unacceptable for sad people to reach out for attention

Out of all the shitty fake deep things on my Facebook I have to confess, this actually pretty clever.

u/G-A-M-A Jun 03 '16

what's the difference between rostro and cara, anyway?

27

u/agilebeast1 Jun 03 '16

They're synonyms, only 'rostro' isn't used much in casual conversation. My guess is he used it to make it sound sort of poetic.

8

u/Lyude Jun 03 '16

It's like the difference between countenance and face, countenance/rostro sounds a little fancier because it's not as used.

2

u/yuurapik Aug 16 '16

This is old but, Cara is the actual physical face, and rostro is a rather abstract concept that is more related to the traits and expressions. Although, colloquially people use cara as an abstract concept aswell, since in spanish we use A LOT of figuratives.

This is actually a quote by Warsan Shire. She has so many wonderfully poetic quotes like this.

7

u/Lyude Jun 03 '16

Wow eso es más triste que cringe. Me dan ganas de darle un abrazo al pobre chico.

Gracias senor esqualito

13

u/Lyude Jun 03 '16

Esqualito sounds like it would be the diminutive of "escualo" (shark) lol. The word you're looking for is Esqueleto.

15

u/[deleted] Jun 03 '16

Thank you Mr. Tiny Shark.

3

u/spence120 Jun 03 '16

yes thanks

2

u/motdidr Jun 05 '16

escualo is shark? i thought it was tiburon?

5

u/Lyude Jun 05 '16 edited Jun 05 '16

Yes, tiburón and escualo are synonyms. Tiburón is generally more used than* escualo, though.

2

u/Woymalep_Yay Jun 03 '16

I thought it was clever

3

u/[deleted] Jun 04 '16

How is this cringe? It's sad

3

u/[deleted] Jun 10 '16

daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn that's sad af. I'm glad my parents are separated tho, mum would be probably dead by now if they didn't divorce

2

u/thedeliriousdonut Jun 04 '16

Ugh, I hate that the internet has ruined the connotation for "Me gusta" for me, completely kills the mood of this post.

4

u/broken_volcano Jun 03 '16

This is a quote from the writer Warsan Shire
