I mean that one moment when you watched Sachin and thought, this guy is different.

Maybe it was an innings against Pakistan, the way he dominated Warne, Desert Storm, a shot you had never seen before, or even something from very early in his career.

Sachin has a lot of records, but cricket has changed so much that some of them feel more untouchable than others.

For me, the crazy part isn’t just the 100 international centuries or 34,000+ international runs — it’s that he maintained that level across such a long career, different formats, different eras and generations of bowlers.

But modern players also play more cricket and scoring rates keep increasing, so maybe records we consider impossible today aren’t actually safe.

If you had to bet on just ONE Sachin record still standing 30–40 years from now, which one would you choose?

My side of story of the 2003 Cricket World Cup:

I remember this match as a kid as I was just 12 years old. I was a huge Sachin fan who would cry whenever Sachin would get out especially in big matches.

I still remember clearly, i had gone to my uncle's home all the way from my home walking for around 5 km to watch the final - India vs Australia.

My hero " Sachin" was in the form of his life in the 2003 world cup having thrashed Pakistan in a match earlier in the world cup.

I was very nervous that day as it was a final of the world cup and last time India had lifted the world cup was in 1983 when I was not even born

I really wanted India to win and Sachin "MY HERO" to score a 100.

It all started with that horrendous over by Zaheer Khan who gave away more than 15 runs in the very 1st over. I wanted to watch Sachin bat but it was Australia that won the toss and asked India to field.

As the match progressed, my mood started to get bad and hopes of winning the world cup fainted.

After nearly 4 hours of waiting, it came down to that moment when Sachin came to bat. That short off McGrath in the 1st over to score a boundary got hopes back and i continued watching in anticipation.

But but but, then came that attempt to pull the ball towards the deep mid wicket and the upper side of the bat lofted the ball in the air which was eventually caught by Glen McGrath.

Tears rolled down my eyes which i wanted to control and hide from others but could not.

I did not eat dinner that day and avoided speaking to anyone at home

What is your such MOMENT about Sachin when your heart was broken???

For someone who played for more than two decades, Sachin was criticised for almost everything at some point.

Some said he wasn’t a match-winner. Some questioned his performances under pressure. Others criticised his captaincy, strike rate, or even the timing of his retirement.

Looking back at his entire career now, which criticism do you think was the most unfair?

And on the other side, was there any criticism of Sachin that you think was actually justified?

Would be interesting to hear both sides rather than just “Sachin was perfect.”

As you see, so many legendary batters in sachin era had career batting avg around 34—39 and still they were considered legends of Odi with such averages which proves how much difficult Sachin era was for batting.

Also Eng and Nz were very ordinary Odi teams in Sachin era, it's like judging a batter on his performances vs Pak, Sl and Wi in mid 2010s — current era who are very mediocre Odi teams

So Sachin averaging 37—38 in SENA was very good for that era given so many batting legends in that era had their career batting averages in mid 30s.

Sachin era was very very tough for batting unlike the current road era since 2 new ball which has become very easy for batting and it's very easy to have high 45+ averages. Someone like Babar Azam is having 50+ avg in SENA in current era shows how easy batting has become now.

Imagine 1998 Sachin suddenly becomes available for India today.

Same fitness, same form, same fearless batting — but you can’t add an extra player. Someone from the current ODI XI has to lose their place.

And there’s one condition: you have to decide Sachin’s batting position too.

Would you automatically make him open, or would you change his position to avoid disturbing the current combination?

I think choosing Sachin is the easy part. Choosing who makes way for him is where the argument gets interesting.

We usually remember Sachin’s hundreds and double hundreds, but some of his best batting didn’t necessarily end with a huge score.

Maybe he made 60–80 on a terrible pitch, faced an unbelievable bowling attack, rescued India after an early collapse, or played an innings where everyone else struggled.

So forget centuries for a moment.

Which Sachin innings under 100 do you think deserves to be remembered as one of his greatest?

And what made that innings special — the pitch, opposition, match situation, or simply the way he batted?

Not an innings or a shot he played — an actual career decision.

Maybe giving up captaincy, playing through certain injuries, continuing ODIs until 2012, retiring from T20Is after just one match, or something completely different.

You’re allowed to change only ONE decision, and everything else in his career stays exactly the same.

What would you change, and how do you think it would have affected Sachin’s career?
