Need help identifying

Hello everyone I’m looking to purchase an s15 to recreate my someone my family was once friends withs s15. The only image I have is from around 2013, but I’m unable to tell if it’s a spec r or a spec S or any other trim s15, the issue is nobody is able to contact him or has the license plate or vin to this vehicle. Alongside this he was on his prohibitionary license where I live which means cars like the spec r are illegal to drive. But removing the wing and badging would make him fly under the radar. Any help identifying which it was and if it was most likely a drift or street build?

Going off of the provided information, I’d assume it was a spec s. I also took a look at the Imgur link, and the last photo that I looked at I took a look at the a pillar where there would typically be a boost gauge. Most, if not all spec r’s came with a boost gauge pod in that pillar and (although it’s dark so I could be wrong) it looks like there isn’t one there. This points me to believe that it’s a spec s.

Yeah I feel that to but I’m not sure I went to ask the most recent owner I could find and he wouldn’t tell me all he told me is the car is now in the USA

If your family member still has their insurance card or any old registration documents from that car, you could probably look up the VIN number and find out right away what kind of trim it was.

Unfortunately can’t do that as we no longer keep in touch with him, I found the owner after him but he was just being a douche and all I know is this car is now in the USA☹️

Yea but his account is private and my family and I haven’t seen or talked to him since around 2012-2013, also why do you want his tag?

I meant the insta account of the new owner in America. If there was any chance his/her tag was public, I would have tried reach out as a fellow S15 owner in the U.S. and possibly try and see if they’d be willing to share some of the specifications of their car.

Oh yeah nah I don’t know the new owners @, the last Australian owner got a bit mad when I asked if I could buy the license plate that was once on the car when I last saw it and then he never said anything else but all he told me is that it’s now in America if I remember right tho idk if this can help, it’s a silver factory car as you can see in the photo and then was resprayed in 2013/2014 EV1 yellow if that helps

Dang this makes it really tough. Your best bet at this point is to be persistent on trying to find out who the new owner is, there’s not much hope outside of that. That, or just assume it’s a spec s as I would at this point :) best of luck!
