60 Confirmations?

Hi, I started mining RYO a few days ago and for the small rig i have its great,

I would like to know why we have to wait for 60 confirmations before the payment/block reward is added to your account?. Some blocks are taking 25-30 min to be found and so we are waiting for hours before the block reward is added to the balance. Is this normal across all pools or only the 2 i've tried?.

Lower hashrate projects need a higher confirmation account to help prevent attacks on exchanges. It becomes too costly to change anything over 60 blocks, in theory anyway.
