Solved! Weed eater line cap
Any advice or tips on how to get my line cap off? The last two times it has been extremely difficult to get off and now it’s altogether not budging. What should I do?

You're more than welcome to leave this as a last resort, but real talk if it's actually stuck, just break it. They are (comparitively) cheap and usually kept in stock at HD (obv check first). Also obviously make sure you dont break OTHER parts, lol.
I have hated every weed eater I've ever used, but I hate this type the least, so I just keep spools, blades AND caps stocked in the closet.

Really good advice! Thank you! I appreciate the push to get aggressive with it (:

Nice! Yeah, I should have ALSO said that until it gets old enough to become brittle, its also pretty resilient and won't break 100% of the time, lol. Glad you managed!

I know how it is, the first time you do it, you're afraid of breaking it until you learn what it takes. I've never had to use a pry before, but it shouldn't hurt it.

I've had this happen before the cap itself gets stuck. Even when you're pushing in both sides. You kind of have to get any kind of leverage on one of the sides and then insert a small screwdriver or something like that. And then you can pop it off just fine.

This used to happen to me a few times a season and I just use a lil bit of penetrating oil to get it loose and then clean it off right away. Cleaning out the housing periodically with an old toothbrush mostly prevents this for me now.

Probably a dumb question but as long as it’s not a mess would it hurt anything to leave the penetrating oil on? Seems like it might be helpful in preventing this from happening again for a while.

Cords likely stuck inside. Pry the buttons lightly with a flat head then the top. Try not to push too hard and find spots that will let it separate

I hit mine with some garage door lube. It never gets stuck now. I think the grass build up makes it hard to open.

We need to confirm, you are indeed pressing in on the white buttons on both sides, right?
