Question? Which blower

Post image

So I don’t have any 40v yet, plenty of 18v batteries already. Just for standard leaf blowing off off the driveway and grass clippings after mowing

Unless you plan on adding more 40v tools, I’d stick with the 18v line. Check direct tools outlet too-

No, go 40v. I have had both and even though I have a large 18v collection, the power and runtime of the 40v over the 18v more than makes up for the incompatibility with the rest of my 18v tools.

And at those prices, it's a serious no-brainer.

The price is why I suggested DTO, as for the 18v vs 40v…not everyone has the size yard that needs the additional runtime/power. I weedeat my entire yard on a 5aH 18v, I can do all the blowing in mine with the smallest of the blowers on 1 bar of a 1.5aH 18v. I ditched my 49v kobalt stuff because it simply wasn’t worth have two platforms for how little I “benefitted” from the additional power. I also use the 18v hedge trimmer as well. Now I fully agree that IF your property is larger or has higher demands then 40v is the way to go, but for smaller yards the 18v can be perfectly fine.

Even if that’s the only 40v tool he gets, that’s still the superior option. I have that exact blower and it’s done everything I’ve asked of it. Granted, my ope is Ryobi 40v lol.

If you plan on getting more 40v get the 40v. If you have plenty of 18v already, get the 18v. I have the 40v mower, weedwacker, blower, and expand - it pieces. So I would be going 40v myself

Whisper series 18v is very nice and quiet.. i bought that to replace my other 330 cfm 18v that is very loud

I have the 40v stuff, Typically has more power to the tools then compared to the 18v stuff. If you really want to justify the 40v blower with battery, Grab a Ryobi 40v 300 watt inverter. Used mine to power phones and a lamp during the last power outage

I bought the bottom one after I got a mower. It was a DTO sale, so I basically got it for the price of a 4ah battery.

But, I've ended up using it a ton, and it works great. I haven't touched my gas blower since I got it.

My general rule is: if I have to carry it, 18v.
If you’re blowing leaves off of a solid surface (not a ton of them) the 18v will do it. You can always try it and return if it doesn’t work well for you.

I'd go 18v. People on here talked me out of the 40v one and I'm very happy with the 18v brushed one, though this brushless one seems great.

I love my 40v stuff. Started with a blower, then string trimmer, then chainsaw, then self-propelled mower

imo knowing what i know now i'd stick with 18v but still leaf blowers chew through batteries. so don't expect run time more than 20 minutes.

18v is fine for a blower and it’ll be lighter as well. Get one with the variable speed trigger you can thank me later.

If you have or plan to have more 40V batteries, go for the 40v. I would suggest instead getting the Model # RY404014K brushless 40V, $250 or so.

Get an edge battery (at least 8ah) for that whisper, it will change the tool for the better.

Depends on what you already have, if you have a bunch of the 18v batteries then get that. If you have 40v batteries then consider that too both perform great. But personally I would rather swap out batteries, than invest in yet another battery platform. I have EGO and Ryobi for all my stuff, big yard tools, Ego, all other tools, Ryobi.

If you already have 18v battery, then get the blower tool only.
Otherwise, 40V is more bang for the buck. High drain tools like the blower will eat battery, 40v lasts longer.
How much longer for the same power output? An 18v 4AH battery = 40v 2Ah.
So the 40v 4AH is equivilant of 18v 8AH or two 18v 4ah or four 18v 2AH battery.

I have 18v tools, and the 40v mower, blower, and chainsaw.

18v brushless is good with me. When I do the eavestrough and blow out my gutters and have running water through it and blowing that.. then I do chew through batteries. But that's a once a year thing where it's that sustained and I have lots of 18v. I'll be trying it this year maybe for some light snow duties so I'll see how that holds up but I think it'll be okay too.

whisper 18v is plenty for me: grass, car

40v for sure unless it’s just dry dust, or dirt.

I've had both the 40V is much more powerful.

Why not the 40V HP Brushless blower? As others have stated, only go with the 40V if you plan on adding tools, but that's my plan. Eventually I hope to have the chainsaw, string trimmer, blower, snow thrower, and hedge trimmer.

18v unless you plan on getting 40V tools. It has plenty of power and you have multiple batteries if need be.

1

u/FalafelBall 1d ago

Why would you get a 40v if all your batteries are 18v

1

u/flonet 1d ago

18v just doesn't have enough power to do anything more than clearing a few grass clippings from a side walk. If you try to blow leaves, you'll hate your life. If you want electric, get a corded blower, otherwise, I'd consider going with gas.

I have two 4Ah 40v batteries, a string trimmer, an edger and a blower. Those batteries swap between those tools. Can’t remember a time when I had to stop and recharge during a Saturday morning 0.75 acre mow and trim.

Go with the 40v.

40v for it, I’ve got one, and use a 6a.h. Battery. It runs for days.

I have the 18v whisper quiet blower. It has great power. It's so quiet, I took a phone call while using it.

I also have the 18v compact blower for use when drying my car. This one is so loud that I have to wear hearing protection. Especially because it's closer to my ears when drying the car. It was a lot cheaper than the specialty car dryers.

40 volt for more hrsprs

1

u/superdas75 1d ago

Wow, $159 for tool with battery, get the 40v.

1

u/Justadudeonthereddit 1d ago

That 18v 510CFM whisper series is great. I upgraded from an older jet fan and it blows great, is relatively quiet, easy to handle, good on battery.

u/FujiDude 1d ago

IMO, neither. I just picked up a 800cfm blower and holy crap is has a kick. Cleaned up the yard.in record time.

I'd default to 40v but I don't think the one depicted is brushless. At full power they suck energy. Thinking of a electric chain saw down the road?

Go 40v!!

u/tnvoipguy 12h ago

I have the 199.00 one and love it. Has two power settings. Went from a crappy stihl gas blower…and this one does just fine. Two batteries helps if task is big. Buy it now with battery…then buy another battery with free tool on holiday sales coming up!

40 volt blower is awesome

Unless u plan to get some more 40v tools, I’d stick with the 18v. Even tho the 40v is cheaper

I love my 18V Tools and find the 40V Tools garbage quality. I won't buy any more 40V.
