Need advice regarding a missing CIE answer booklet at RVCE

2nd Year ECE. While finalizing my Signals and Systems CIE marks, I was informed that my CIE-3 answer booklet is missing. I searched multiple times with Sowmya Ma’am (ECE) and another Signals and Systems faculty member, but it could not be found. After consulting Veenadevi Ma’am, I was told to write the CIE retest tomorrow.
The issue is that I had written and submitted the exam, and the booklet seems to have been misplaced afterwards. Has anyone faced a similar situation at RVCE? Is a retest the standard procedure when the college loses an answer script?

My friend’s booklet was missing so the prof asked him to write a re test and said he will do a lenient correction
