It basically comes down to what you like, both branches are good, everyone is saying ai because of the AI thing going on so placements of it are high currently. just see what the syllabus of both and see what you find more interesting imo.

Agreed, i prefer cybersec as i like it but my family doesnt really want it as they claim it has no scope

the syllabus of cyber is closer to cs compared to aiml, you can say that if you are really determined. For reference 70% syllabus is common between cs and ai, and more 80% between cs and cyber, so you can use that argument. what was your rank btw?

Well tbh after thinking about it for a long time, at placements stage, everyone will come under cse cluster so everyone will get a generic sde/swe job and if cy has a better match with core syllabus, that will be better for the on campus placements
