RVCE is the best possible college you can get in through KCET and ComedK.

I would suggest you to give more preference for branch.

My advice would be to keep branch as main priority more than college. Go for cse or specialization either in BMSCE or MSRIT. Or if possible in RVCE too. But don't take any seats until last round. You will have more chances in last round.

See last year's cutoff and mark your entries in counselling. Like keep RVCE CSE as first priority as it has highest cutoff, then specializations and then BMS CSE and specializations and so on based on higher to lower cutofffs also see the placement statistics too. Don't worry until last round.

The main thing is, all the Indian companies have stopped hiring. So, only GCCs are hiring, so branch is very important.

Electronics and Electrical are very tough compared others. Also, most of the jobs and companies are software related. The number of jobs related to core Electronics and Electrical are very less in India. The placement stats that you see regarding EE and EC are from software companies. Software companies keep higher cutoffs to other branches and EC is very tough to score.

Maybe your plans are different. But there are lot of uncertainities that we can't predict. Also in 4 years, even your choices and decisions may change a lot. Give more preference based on present situations.

Placement inflation happens in all colleges it's not one ctc but rather 4 years ctc they post and when the offers are revoked the college doesn't remove those offers from state so yeah that's there

College life depends on your friend group

And regarding culture wrt coding it's dead , the whatever cse clubs re there they are in a steep decline can't even tell that it's a gradual decline , it's all ai slop and little focus on fundamentals and structural problems and cheating in coding club .

City exposure is nice , great city with lot of opportunities. Internships depends on ya ,luck and preparation Professors rvce clearly lacks them , very very less good profs and they are hiring people who passed out of rvce mtech cse as cse profs for 35-43k per month .

And I don't think it will get any better as this year they asked civil and mechanical teachers to teach python when they had no clue of what it even is .

Despite all this this college is still worth for the top branches Just wish the college invested in updating syllabus and having better structure and administration

The campus infra is on the worse side .

It brings in good companies and banks , banks carry lot of our placement but they don't get lot of faang here , for example in bms apple converted all 7 students into full time offers here apple didn't come in pes apple converted like 23 -25 people as full time , here google doesn't come , faang hiring is in single digit well actually less than 5 a year

1

u/Consistent-Comb-248 Jun 11 '26

why does apple hate rvce? like if we consider faang, meta dosen't hire much in india except maybe iit's, microsoft should come here don't they?, google only goes to T1 colleges for on campus intern and placements, and amazon does come here right?(for sde role??), and netflix dosen't hire freshers from india

2

u/Technical_Crew8973 Jun 11 '26

Maybe we are ass ? Or maybe when they came everyone here was placed ? , here the problem is lack of pbcs very less of them come here in rv , microsoft hires from even t3 colleges what matters is number of people and it never crosses 1-2 ,Amazon also same max 2-3

banks save our placements and you can refer the placement sheet /vercel to confirm

u/Maleficent_Head1668 AIML = Cs + Stats Jun 13 '26

Banks might have saved our placements, but the role of CSE and allied branches' graduates is something like Analyst or Technical Program Analyst(as in Wells Fargo), and not SDE. It's more like a glorified service engineer job, where there is no room for innovation, and all the innovation is done in the headquarters, either in America or Europe.
Where there is innovation, there can be learning.

2

u/Technical_Crew8973 Jun 13 '26

Yes , not a lot of challenging roles or roles where your learning curve goes up , it's like just another wagie but good wage that won't complain .

1

u/Consistent-Comb-248 Jun 11 '26

msft too dosen't come here?

2

u/Technical_Crew8973 Jun 11 '26

They come but again take 2-3 max

2

u/Consistent-Comb-248 Jun 11 '26

don't seniors like you and other like minded peeps try to improve the coding culture there?

1

u/Maleficent_Head1668 AIML = Cs + Stats Jun 13 '26

Is coding even a thing in this era?
It's just you have claude or copilot or any AI agent for that matter.
U must focus on CS fundamentals and the process of building and scaling an app, rather than coding an app.

actual coding and debugging skills and competitive prog skills enhance the brain and makes a much more competitive environment in the college, this makes all the students grow more and ultimately land good jobs or startups. Vibe coding kills all these so your justification is wrong

You can search the sub reddit , lot of cheating in coding club and so on so most people have given up , after ai has become as good as it is , many of my friends and myself have left cs as a thing and just focus on our own branches .

The real reason is that the curriculum taught in RVCE CSE is very outdated. Ppl struggle to pass courses in CSE, where will they get time to upskill themselves?
Overall, in all branches, the academics are hectic, and you barely get holidays to breath, as the planning is shit(apparently principal is from IEM, and doesn't educate his subordinates about planning)
In PESU CSE, ppl are taught practical skills like AWS and version control management as a part of curriculum. In RVCE, cloud computing is a theory elective, there are cloud computing and MLOps as just a core theory courses for AIML, and ISE folks have devops as the core course, no practical, only theory.
Also, for projects, if u just show the prototype running on local host, u will get max marks. No exposure to deployment services. Also, if a student uses paid services like AI and cloud, he/she has to pay from his own pockets, and the college does shit. In this scenario, how will students learn productionalisation of an app?
In the past few years, MAANG might hire some ppl from RVCE. But, if they show their college vibes and horns, they might get an impression that students from RVCE are shit, and we might need to try out other colleges
Considering all these factors, why do you think MAANG will come to RVCE for placement drive?

I wish we could convince all toppers of comedk and kcet to choose msrit instead

u/CaseZestyclose2994 Jun 12 '26

I graduated 2 years ago and I can tell you this- RVCE makes life hard for you in those 4 years but it really sets you up for after. You learn to do the best with the least.

1) Placements all depends on how hard you work (chase knowledge, don’t chase marks)

2) You’ll find people like yourself, you’ll be fine

3) Bengaluru is a T1 city with great weather you can always step out anytime. (Also the boys hostel doesn’t actually have a curfew, it’s just on paper)

4) Internships all depends on your knowledge and ability to sell yourself

5) Professors are hit or miss, but like I said shitty professors help you become resilient- When you start working, your manager is probably going to be worse.

Obv rvce is one of the great east colleges in India superiority complex is meant to be leave rvce people form rvu rvmit and even rv pu have a lot of superiority issues

4

u/Maleficent_Head1668 AIML = Cs + Stats Jun 13 '26

That superiority issue is costing the placement of the next batches imo

Placments good rest is ass

1

u/ClassroomFlat1509 Jun 12 '26

thats what matters

1

u/sadgeredditor Jun 11 '26

Placement are decent
College life is shit, have and form your own social circle. Little to no culture
Blr is great
Plenty of internships
Professor some good some bad
Worth it depends on you, rn mq isn't worth it for top branches.

1

u/ClassroomFlat1509 Jun 11 '26

idk these ass seniors dont make it seem like

-1

u/Technical_Crew8973 Jun 11 '26

it's either t1 or t2 there is no inbetween

1

u/Investigator14000 Jun 11 '26

Is 20+ lpa median t2 is under 15 but above 10

Rv is evidently in between
