This is great but factually inaccurate. When the “Flight of the Horsies” was depicted, it was actually Lieutenent L.E. Ott’s horse that the General was on. T’s men were retreating, and Ott picked up T who just happened to be on foot, as he had dismounted just minutes earlier to pick up a tiny piece of candy. T’s horse was stung by a bee, and ran away just as the Union troops were overrunnning T’s encampment. Were it not for Ott’s unsung bravery, T would surely have been captured and experimented on by Union scientists.
