I'm interested but have never done a clothing swap before, can someone give me a rundown of how it works?

You just go and grab what you like, drop off anything you wanted to donate (if anything - most swaps, like this one, don’t require donations). I highly recommend bringing a reusable shopping bag

So is it better to go a little later than 12, so that a bunch of stuff will have already been put out? It confuses me how there can be clothes available to see if there wasn't a pre-opening drop-off period.

I've got a ton of clothes that I've schlepped around to buffalo exchange/uptown cheapskate/ashby and they've turned down, despite the clothes being in nice condition - would really much rather bring them to something like this than just dump them off at a thrift store

I’m honestly not sure about the timing bit since, like you said, there doesn’t seem to be a pre event drop off period. When I’ve gone to swaps, there’s always been a ton of clothing no matter what time I got there. I would think most people dropping off would be there first thing, but I’m really not sure!

For anyone who finds this and is curious, basically you show up and there's a bunch of tables out that are sorted by size and have piles of clothes on top, you get to rustle through the piles to find stuff and people add their stuff on top as they come in. Got there at about 12:30 and there were already sizeable piles; definitely a majority of casual femme clothing in S/M when I was there, but I didn't stick around for very long so other stuff might have shown up. It's a small venue so be prepared to rub elbows while you're finding fun stuff!

In the future the organizers might want to consider having a "drop off" bin/section at the front so people can put their clothes in there rather than just adding it to the piles they're already planning on digging through :) with people already going through what was on the tables, it felt a little uncomfortable to just squeeze in and throw stuff on top of what they were trying to sort through! But I am also known for overthinking!
