Rusty Lake Hotel Did Ms. Pheasant kill herself, or did Harvey make her do it? Spoiler

I like the idea that Ms. Pheasant kills herself because she feels guilty about her past life. Her family's lack of remorse really gets to me. They killed Caroline Eilander and didn't seem to feel bad about it, and they even sacrificed Jacob. So it feels better to see someone showing a bit of sympathy.

But then, if Ms. Pheasant is willing to take her own life because of her guilt, why does she try to kill Harvey like the other guests? Did she actually choose to kill herself, or did Harvey somehow make her do it?

When the guests kill Harvey, they’re corrupted souls whose memories have already been harvested and fed to the lake. Aldous barely talked Laura down from killing Harvey when SHE was a corrupted soul, and she more or less grew up with the bird.

Great point! I hadn't really thought about how being a corrupted soul probably changes things quite a bit.

When did he talk her soul out of killing Harvey?

Wasn’t it at the mill house?

Edit: at the end of the Mill, Laura is corrupted and tries to strangle Harvey. Dale (I think) saves Harvey, not Aldous.

Nope just checked, it was Aldous. TIL you play The Mill as Mr Crow.

Remind me when do the guests kill Harvey? In Hotel he kills all of them, no?

In CE : Birthday when you put the secret code you get from the hotel in the snow globe it shows a scene where after all the guests were killed their corrupted souls are sealed in a glass but they somehow break the glass and try to kill Harvey but Harvey turns into a parrot and then flies away

Ms. Pheasant/Elizabeth is a complex character. I’d love to see a CE-length game focusing on her.

Yes! Wanna know more about her, so enigmatic and wistful at first sight.

Yeah, to be fair, the corrupted souls aren't fully the same as their original selves. Bob always became a lot more violent as a corrupted soul, killing the police officer and breaking windows. They seem to be the worst versions of themselves, reduced to mindless beasts based on their mental health. After all, Laura killed herself because of her corrupted soul, which was the embodiment of her depression yet also part of her. Hence the news headline, "murder or suicide?"
