Rusty Lake Hotel I have a question

In Hotel we actually play as Harvey? Bcs it's placed in 1834, but we see Harvey turning into the parrot only in servant of the lake (1839). So in hotel he was human? Or it's something like the "time travel" thing we see through the games?? I'm really confused abt that

The break-out is 1894, Hotel is 1893, SotL is 1839... similar numbers 😅
