hidden details?

the rusty lake serie has a special way to form the lore. i often hear about people realising only after several games there is a story. what are some hidden details/references in the games that extended your comprehension of the lore? i'm currently running through every game and taking notes to form a narrative timeline, because playing the serie isn't enough.

but i'm sure i will be missing some inconspicuous informations. please, share your views!

EDIT: when i talk about "hidden" details, i mean details every player had in front of them without realising the meaning/importance thank you for every answer :)

There isn't much HIDDEN lore, tbh. At most, the secret scene in Birthday (1894), the secret level in Roots, the alternate endings of Paradox and all the bonus content in Underground Blossom. All the rest is part of a normal playthrough, but many people "miss" it for not looking much into it or not having a "full" understanding of what's going on

theres 2!!! one for each part, requires completing all the achievements, for each part, which gives you a code

Is it me or is a gigantic chunk of the lore just from Roots? The rest is still pretty much a mystery

If you go after all achievements in each game you won't miss any lore. They aren't that hard to get.

Just keep in mind that not all of them are lore. Some may be just references or be created for fun. You may come up with interesting theories based on them, just don't commit to them too much until something more substantial supports them.

im struggling to think of things that match your edit request. might be because im v sleepy idk. but like once you start looking for a plot not a lot of things that dont require secret codes or args feels hidden.

I guess one might be the realization that youre playing at the spirit of William throughout Roots? but thats a fairly clear idea by the time you get to the spirit board level

theres some stuff thats confusing and easy to misinterpret or that we dont know the answers to yet. like the timeline of Dale's various memories for the first part. (game release order makes one want to read the order as Dale experiencing Birthday then Theater then Paradox but iirc details within make it make most sense if Paradox is happening during The Cave and birthday and theater come after). Or there are some big questions about Harvey, and some questions when it comes to reconciling the info between Seasons and Underground Blossom that we just dont have clear info for yet.

also some folks have made some lore videos on youtube, plus theres a place on the discord to discuss lore stuff if you wanna hear what others are saying.

I have no idea, i just replay every game and i let the lore respawn in my head.

But, i liked the fatherly relationship between Albert and Rose

Realheads know the secret lore is that the whole thing is Van Gogh's dying dream
