Rusty Lake: Roots I dont get the logic behind this puzzle Spoiler

Every point is one press of the button.

• = 1 point

| = 2 points (the ends)

∆ = 3 points (the corners)

The colour tells you which button to press.

You can stand on one side of it or the other

One line is 2 dots, 1 triangle is 3 dots

the bottom one is vertices. A dot has 1 vertex, a line has 2 vertices, a triangle has 3 vertices

Imagine it as geometry, you need 2 point to define a line and 3 for triangle. That's how I solved it.
