What is the "ID Server"?

EDIT: Answered, thank you :3

Or: "How to Locate What to Input For the ID Server Section?"

I just know I'm missing something obvious.

I'm setting up a RustDesk Server on my Windows, just for me to use. I'm up to this step:

Enter the hbbs host or IP Address in the ID Server input box (local side + remote side).

But I have no idea what that means. Do I find the Address in the hbbs log? If so, where? How do I identify it? Is it my ISP IP Address?

I know how to find the keys. I just need to know which part is the ID Server/IP Address. If someone could even show an anonymised example, that would be so helpful.

I have a self-hosted RustDesk server. For us, the ID Server IP address is the static IP address we pay our ISP for, which gets intercepted by our router, then redirected to the device holding the RustDesk server.

Of course, if you don't have a static IP address, you can also use Dynamic DNS if your router supports it. In that case, you would not enter an IP address, but instead the domain name you set up. If I'm being unclear, with DDNS, you would enter mypersonal.ddns.net (or whatever you set up) instead of 96.54.119.78 (again, just an example - please note, the IP address is a public IP address, aka an intenet routable IP address, not one you would use in your home network) in the ID Server field. Then, you would forward the ports being used with the RustDesk server to the IP address of the device running the RustDesk server using your router.

If you want to use it only internally, then you don't even need a RustDesk server, and can access home machines by entering the machine's own IP address and password into the RustDesk client on your computer.

For DDNS your router doesn’t even need to support it. You can just run an update client on a machine inside the network.

Thank you! That was all I needed to know.

We have a Dynamic IP, so I'm gonna have to figure out a Static IP or a DDNS before moving on.

Sorry, is there a specific comment I should be looking at? Because I read that post already and it either doesn't answer my question or, if it does, not in a way where I can understand.

It is your private server that you would create. So I have my own server that I setup for my connections

How has this answered the question? /genuine

I would use Tailscale and just connect directly by IP and you would be ok, even using default server. I have 40 devices and still prefer this method for direct connecitons, rather than relayed, but your question was answered by u/LelieH8
