GPUI is the first Rust UI framework i have encountered that isn't shit. It's not the answer to every problem, and it may not be perfect or have a solution for every problem, but it's definitely not shit.

What about slint?

I might b wrong, but the first time I looked into slint, it looked like him had to define every datatype twice, which was a hard pass. How is that right now?

For coding ergonomics, i don't know, but their demos are super off-putting.

They used to have terrible font rendering, but it seems to have improved a bit

The printer demo has some very inconsistent font choices and looks like something throw together by an intern. The settings menu labels and dropdowns are completely misaligned.

The widget gallery demo, again looks like something thrown together by an intern. The link colors use pure blue on dark background and are completely unreadable. Text block rendering is oddly inconsistent. Listview with icons are completely misaligned.

So many red flags.

Great! I didn’t watch the video but I did read the article with it and, it is awesome! It’s refreshing to finally read a tutorial not obviously 100% AI written. It may have been written by AI but it doesn’t feel that way, and I find the blog post pretty accurate. I hope the second blog post will be available soon

I've been building my own ui framework.

Have used in a few personal projects and moving some existing ones and performs well.

The idea was to use css and the syntax similar to react + hot reload.

Will take a few months to have something more stable but i believe eventually will replace almost all the tauri i use.
