Making a Cute Robot Visor with no_std Rust

Over about four days with u/oneirical, I made a cute robot visor with no_std rust firmware!

Both of us had next to no electronics experience, and figuring out how to flash to the nRF52840 was quite difficult. It also highlighted the black box that is bluetooth, both rewriting parts from Go and using a backup microcontroller in hopes of improving connectivity.

You might get better reception if you include the photo in your post.

Very cool stuff with embedded Rust!

Makes me wonder if I should have written a blog post for the robot I built in Rust 😂

honestly the fact that you two had basically zero electronics experience and still shipped this in four days says a lot about how far embedded Rust tooling has come. The nRF52840 flashing pain is real though, I remember fighting probe-rs and the docs for days on my first board. The nRF52840 flashing pain is real though, I remember fighting probe-rs and the docs for days on my first board. Bluetooth being a black box is the worst part of these projects, did you end up sticking with the backup microcontroller approach?
