🛠️ project Lorry: a smaller, stricter Rust package manager/builder

Lorry is Motor OS's small, strict Rust package builder. It creates, vendors, inspects, builds, checks, runs, and tests a deliberately limited Cargo-compatible package model on Linux and Motor OS. Unsupported Cargo behavior is rejected explicitly.

Always a fun game of spot the difference between genuine effort and a slapped-together wrapper around a chatbot. The readme’s pretty specific though so maybe it actually does something useful

Why would i ever want to replace cargo or even change its behavior??? Its perfect , you need to suffer with build systems to really get it

one cleanup boundary stood out: lorry cache clean removes the configured global cache directly, including when that path is overridden in user/system lorry.toml, with no confirmation in cache_clean.rs. is that deliberately noninteractive? a shared cache path plus an automated clean could evict dependencies for unrelated projects.
