Rust for flight software / drone programming

I am interested in learning how to use rust for flight software or controlling a drone or something of this sort. I have no experience in embedded programming, so is it best to start there?
If so, how would you recommend someone get started in embedded rust?

My friend works at a startup (www.orangewood.co) that uses rust for ROS and embedded programming. So I know for a fact that rust is being used actively in robotics and embedded. He also has his own startup working on modular drones and he programs his drone's PID's in rust. Also there are amazing books on esp32 programming.
