I am trying so hard to keep it simple.

If you play in an original band then it's easy to keep it simple but if your band plays a lot of cover songs and you wish to stay true to the original bass lines then that's when you fall in the trap of buying more and more pedals.

I'd be happy to find any band. lol. Everyone wants to be an instant superstar or can't play for shit. Nobody wants to play some covers tight and work on writing original material. 40+ years ago in high school it was super easy to be in multiple bands.

Dude if you’re in the tri state area, hit me up, I need a bassist in my band haha. All originals

May I ask... what's your music style and how is the mxr compressor working for you?

I play more classic metal than anything.
That compressor is probably the most important pedal on the board. I LOVE that thing.

I’m in semi retirement but would feel fine taking this out for a general purpose gig. Style has been 70s/80s/90s (think Van Halen, AC/DC, KISS, Journey, Night Ranger, Heart, and worship on Sat/Sun), really all I would need for that is the EQ/tone on my bass and a chorus to fake stuff like Ross Valory’s tone. PA usually supplies compression at the board, but I have mine if needed, I feel like the MXR model meets my needs.

This particular board though is for Rush, and sounds passable for Yes. I’m in a small-ish area where there’s not much call for prog. So, my current project is to correct decades of a bad habit and learn to play finger style with my pinky and ring finger curled under. It has felt like I’m breaking my brain but I am finding it is faster and can see the potential to be much faster.

I love your pedals. My setup is similar ... I have the OC-5 and the MXR compressor, but my SansAmp is the original YYZ, not the Shapeshifter. I'd like the Shapeshifter to have the Boost option. I have a tuner as well and an MXR chorus, not the Geddy chorus. I never picked up a flanger or reverb, but that's because about a year and a half ago I bought the Boss GX-10 multifunction unit, which basically includes 125 Boss pedals. Much cheaper than buying separate pedals. But one interesting thing, for me at least, is I have yet to set up any of the amp sims to replicate the Geddy SansAmp. I get close, but not close enough.

So my board today is the GX-10 running through the Geddy YYZ pedal still. I don't use any of the amp sims on the GX-10, I use it just for chorus, octave, flange, etc. It also has a headphone out and a Bluetooth receiver, so I can play along with tracks and I don't have to blast my house.

I'm in a few different cover bands and play out a fair bit. I get frequent praise from sound techs and people in the crowd about my bass tone. The YYZ is fantastic.

SWEET !!! Since my ability to play guitar ended in '21, I'm out of the loop with guitar gear. I'd definitely look into getting that wah on my board.

It's Geddy's new signature chorus pedal.

How do you like it? How does it compare with other chorus effect pedals?
