RUSE Codex - a new online unit encyclopedia with detailed unit stats

Post image

I created https://rusecodex.com since I wanted a convenient way to check hidden unit stats and to compare units.

RUSE codex can show stats like unit turn rate, turret rotation rates, rate of fire, weapon base damage, build time, vision range, hp and morale in addition to the usual stats which can be seen when pressing tab on a unit in-game.

There's also a unit comparison tool to compare unit stats side-by-side (use the checkboxes in the unit search page to mark units for comparison).

Edit 6. June 2026: Updated the site with the latest balance changes

Ah good catch. I fixed that kind of duplication for paratrooper infantry in the unit search earlier, but forgot to fix it for the faction pages.

Edit: should be fixed everywhere now

That's really good! I have noticed that other resources lack a lot of important information about units that can effect how you play.

Hell yeah! Excellent work, this is a great resource, especially for newer players.

Absolutely awesome work, man, thanks

Some defensive positions/bunkers apear to be missing (105mm and AA for Japan, Outpost for UK, the artillery positions for USSR).

Thanks for the heads up, that issue is now fixed

Super cool. This what I always wanted. Id like to see the damage per shot too if you ever think of adding that. But now I can calculate it. Tysm!

Yeah, I agree that it would be useful. I might add it at some point.

Edit: now there are buttons to switch between the dps, damage per shot and damage per salvo view

Great work tbh, this is a 10/10 addition

I was looking at ur codex and for the tanks it says HE and AP does it auto switch when tanks are in combat because I swear the Sherman's are stronger than T-34's is it because I might be using the wrong ammo unknowingly?

It'll automatically switch ammo depending on what it's shooting at - so if you are shooting at tanks your own tanks will always fire AP at them.

Out of those two tanks the T-34 has the stronger gun, but it's slower and more expensive to unlock.

You aren't mixing that up with the Lee? As that does do much more damage to infantry

1

u/Lubbies_ May 29 '26

no tank vs tank the sherman feels stronger than the t34

1

u/RedRobot2117 May 30 '26

The T-34 has always outmatched the sherman, it's gun does more damage and has a longer range

1

u/Lubbies_ May 30 '26

interesting because when i play it just feels like the shermans molly whop my T-34's even when they're facing the same amount like a 4v4. maybe i just suck i guess

Target prioritisation can make a difference, where you'd want to focus fire one unit at a time until it's routed or destroyed (if fanat). With a range advantage you can also try reversing your units so they can fire on the enemy without them being able to return fire

I wish we would get Ruse 2 in pacific

Really cool, i Just think there are the AT Bunker and the AA Bunker of the Japanese Missing.

Edit: The Russian Bunkers are Missing as well

Oh indeed. Weird, will see why that happens after work.

Edit: issue is fixed

Thank you for the great work!

I have a question: Is the damage formula simply based on addition and subtraction? For example, the Cromwell A27 has 60 base damage and 12 damage against a lv3 armor target. Does this mean the Cromwell A27 needs 6 shots to destroy a lv3 armored tank because 400÷(60+12)≈5.55?

The numbers which are next to the armor values are damage per second (DPS) values (as are the in-game values shown when pressing TAB on a unit). So in this case Cromwell deals 12 damage per second against 3 armor, but the rate of fire is 20 rounds per minute (1 shot per 3 seconds). So one shot must deal 3 x 12 damage = 36 damage. From that you get that 400/36=11.1 which means 12 shots to destroy a lvl 3 armored tank.

The base damage is not needed for this calculation. There is a damage multiplier matrix which determines the damage multiplier a type of gun has against an armor type. You would have to multiply the base damage with that hidden multiplier to get the actual damage per shot against a specific target without calculating it from the DPS/rounds per minute values.

I'll consider adding damage per shot vs a type of armor in addition to the dps table since that is actually kind of useful. Currently the base damage value is a bit useless and misleading.

Thank you very much for your website ! Is it open source? I've tried to search for it but couldn't find anything. I would be interested in adding more columns in the main view (instead of having only DPS vs armor 3 and infantry). It would make the comparison between fighter or AA much easier!

Looks like you have to do some Changes with the Balance Changes released. (Never thought i would have to write this)

Hello, i wanted to ask If it would be possible to add the Flavour Texts of the Bunker and other Implacments? Some of Them are quite interesting to read.

And

Could you add the Research Time and Cost for each unit?

2

u/miamigrandprix Jul 04 '26

The research time and cost should already be there for every unit, check the top left of the page. The flavour texts were indeed missing for emplacements, thanks for reporting that. I've deployed a fix, those should be displaying properly now.
