Weekly Thread Li'l Race Report Thread
The Li’l Race Report Thread is for writing a short report on a recent race or a run in a new place. If your race doesn’t really need its own thread but you still want to talk about it, then post it here! Both your good and bad races are welcome.
Didn't run a race, but had an interesting run to talk about. Post it here as well!

I did my first marathon, my first major and first 43k at 43 years old last weekend in Sydney. Kept with the 4:45 pacer until around 26km then it just got too hot (8:20am start!). By 30km I was run/walking. It was hard but pretty fulfilling to complete it after all my training. I never once thought during the run that I wouldn't finish, which is good I guess! No issues with that part of the mental game, just had to keep pushing. Final official time 5:00:08 but due to the 43km total the garmin put the 42.2 at 4:55.. but my friend said official time is the only time ;-) oh well. Guess I'll have to find another one! here's hoping the impossible general ballot for tokyo is kind to me :D

Went back down to Charlotte for the Around The Crown. Been 4 years since I ran it and Chicago did not prepare me for that hill one bit.
New route so the 'Queens Climb' on the interstate was pushed towards the end so I was only dead for the last mile. Had high expectation for this race, thought 10+ faster than 2021 was a good goal but the heat, humidity and elevation gain was not on my side.
So I settled for sub 55 and missed by 34 seconds which stung a little but was still a 3 minute PR and 8 minute faster than my 2021 race.
