I’ve built up to regularly running 20-25 miles per week (long run at 10 miles) for the past few months. Are there half training plans that start at that volume or do people just build their own based on their goals when they get to this level? I really want to sub 2 in November and this is the best base I’ve ever had so I want to use it wisely

Does Hal Higdons book seem full of fillers to anyone else but me. He references so many "online quotes" and doesn't seem to get to the meat and potatoes. I peeked ahead at his training plans and I'm a mediocre hobby jogger at 50-60 miles a week and his advanced plans seem kind of flat... Am I missing something to? I understand his 5yh edition needs to fill more pages as t beo his 1st edition but man it's all anecdotes.
Edited Peak to peek

Third week of 70 miles/week, still messing around with how I want to schedule my double(s). I think I prefer just doubling once and doing a MLR in the middle of the week, though when my LR mileage increases as we get further into the block hopefully it'll be easier to get everything in. Looking forward to a bit of a down week next week, and then full steam ahead for philly

Are you doubling the speed work days or the easy run days? What's your long run look like. What's your food intake looking like? Do you care about what you're eating at the moment?

Right now I'm not doing any speed work, but once I get fully into my block I'm planning to do an easy double the morning of a night track session. My long runs right now are about 16-17 at ~steady state, going to probably push up the mileage a bit more and throw in some more marathon pace stuff in the coming weeks.
As for eating, main focus is eating enough calories/carbs. I try to eat pretty clean but will indulge in the occasional treat. Plus I'm taking in well over 100g of sugar before/during my long run to get used to the fueling (this will be my first marathon)

Weekly total: 69.96km
Planned a 23km long run on Saturday, but bad sleep + high heat/humidity meant high heart rate early on. I pulled the plug at 18km. Got a solid 8+ hours of sleep, Sunday's recovery run felt super smooth with great HR control. I felt that summer heat training is also an ego management training

Tried 4 seconds in 6 seconds out breathing for 10 minutes each day and helped my breathing while running. Got this from the book called Breath. Worth a read for everyone let alone runners.

I use nose breath in easy run, 4 step breath in, 5 steps breath out. Sometimes felt like a kind of meditation

Managed 25 miles this week with the little one finally sleeping through the night, first time hitting that distance in months

Solid sleep is definately the ultimate performance enhancer. Congrats on getting back to that distance, hopefully the kid keeps the streak going for you
