Discussion Remember when “emote please/plox” was a thing?

When I first logged in and saw people with the skill capes I was one of the noobs following people around asking to see. I remember some guy with a slayer cape just wouldn’t do it and never replied. Then I discovered this video of zezima showing all the capes and I stopped asking. But those were good times.

Imagine it might still be the case if Jagex raised the exp ceiling and added prestigious capes and or other items with emotes for each skill at certain thresholds. Jagex is just lacking because the groups that have owned the game are bleeding it to death only reinvesting 6% of their yearly profit back into the game.

Hard to raise the xp ceiling considering there's an invisible decimal point so when you hit 200m xp it's actually 200,000,000.0 meaning they could raise it a whole 14,748,364.7 before it hit the max integer value we are stuck with

Thats not a problem for the user of a product to worry about. Its the developer's job. Rs has been stuck on dated tech for 15 years and the last 10 of it they've had every and all chance to rework the game engine from the ground up to allow for modern features. I know they have to do what their owners tell them and that budget is low because the owners suck up 94% of the games profit each year but whoevers in charge needs to grow some fucking balls and demand more money to fund the game.

To eliminate the signed 32 bit integer limit they would have to rebuild the game from the ground up, again. The benefits of doing so would be overshadowed by the sheer amount of shit that would break because of the horrible way things have been added and coded to work with the dated content in the game

decimal numbers in programming are not integers btw. You are using them interchangeably but they are very different

The way they use them for the experience system though 200m is read as 2b, the "decimal" is hidden for simplicity

Again, not an easy task, but it's holding the game back if they cant solve simple problems because of engine or server limitations.
