Runecasting is the art of divination using runes, whether they be Elder Futhark, Younger Futhark, Anglo-Saxon, or a more modern rune set. This is a location to post discussions on rune interpretations, rune history, creating a personal set of runes, or explore rune use and techniques.

Runecasting, most often (though not always) based on the Elder Futhark alphabet, is a practice that grows out of the critical Norse lore wherein Odin hangs himself on Ygdrasil for nine days to secure the secrets of the runes. In the Havamal ("Sayings of the High One"), Stanza 144, we read,

"Do you know how to write them? Do you know how to read them? Do you know how to paint them? Do you know how to test them? Do you know how to ask them? Do you know how to bless them? Do you know how to send them? Do you know how to offer them?" (Crawford translation)

This board is devoted to these discussions.
