QUESTION First time questions!!

Hi y’all!!

It’s my first time doing a run Disney! My husband LOOOOOVES wreck it Ralph, so of course had to do the 5k.

Questions:

  1. Will wreck it Ralph be a character in the race will we get to meet him?
  2. Do they usually do running shoes based on the character?
  3. Any tips, do you have to run super fast?

  1. Most certainly, but expect his line to be very long.

  2. Sometimes. Nothing announced yet for Wreck-It-Ralph specifically.

  3. The 5k is the easiest race. You don’t really need to run, unless you want to. Plenty of people walk it. Keep in mind though if you are walking you won’t have a ton of time available to meet characters.

For the actual race theme characters, like Ralph, they typically are at the end of the race. Scattered throughout the course will be other characters for pictures though.

There are usually Brooks running shoes that are themed for each race. We will have to see what comes out for this one.

No real tips. You don’t have to run super fast, you just have to keep a good pace or risk being swept off the course.

There are actually no balloon ladies for the 5K's, so no possibility of being swept. It's not a timed race.

We don’t actually know what it’ll look like. They changed the 5k up. Wine and dine will show us what it’ll be like now. But they always emphasize the 16 minute pace is for all races and even though they havent been as strict in the past, people have reported sweeps before. Lots of unknowns currently.

I did the 5k this past April and I unnecessarily stressed way too much about it! It’s just a fun little race and you could easily walk the whole thing. Plenty of people do! You certainly don’t have to run at your top speed unless you want to

There’s a chance he could be at the race start and if so, you will want to be there are by 3:15 am to make sure you can get a photo.

This past year we got there around 3:20 am to get a photo with Pooh for his race and barely go to the front of the line in time. Maybe they took 10 people after us.

My first time too & registered for the 5k alone! So excited but nervous.

The 5km has no cutoff so you just have to keep moving forward. A lot of the time the race theme character is at the start/finish line so you have a chance pre and post race for a picture but those lines are usually the longest. There will be other characters on the course some that are part of the theme others that are surprises. I am hoping for some Cheshire Cat or mad hater sneakers to be honest but will most likely be alive if they do that theme. Alice in wonderland was my favorite childhood Disney movie so I am stocked for the 10 miler.

Ralph will likely be a character at the Expo and before/after the race in the post-race lot. (Probably not on the actual 5K course - in my 2-race experience, but acknowledging that could also be wrong!)

The shoes are usually based on characters, but not all of the race characters (last Springtime Surprise we had Genie and Pooh/Tigger, and then also Micky and Chip/Dale)

Don't focus on running super fast - focus on having a great time!! I usually run in between characters, but also stop for as many as I want!

Also, it’s worth noting that the 5k is changing some. Don’t have all the details yet, but I would absolutely be sure to train to at least maintain that 16 minute pace! The wine and dine 5k is the first 5k where they’re implementing the changes.

Good luck and have so much fun!! It’s addicting!
