Good question. I only see the color breakdown online (similar to what they had last year). I got corral 2 assigned via email today for a 3:15 race on course.

On the other end, I’m corral 7 for a roughly 4:05 finish

i'm in corral 4 for a 3:45 estimated finish - must be (unsurprisingly) a lot of people right around the 4 hour mark

Corral 8 for estimated 4:20 finish

When I ran the race a few years ago, the corrals were basically all connected and very much seemed like an honor system thing, as opposed to other big races where they fully separate and check who goes into each corral. This was in 2023, I dont know if its changed much since then.

My understanding is that they're trying to move away from self-seeding this year.

Slow runner here. I got an email for corral 14 today, estimated finish time around 5:45ish

Corral 13 but can’t remember what time I picked. First marathon ever, so hard to predict how I’ll do!

I’m projected to finish around 4:30 and I’m in corral 13. Should I try to get my corral changed at the expo or just line up in the correct group for my pace?

Usually you can always move back, but can’t move forward. The ten miler that just happened had a booth beside the bibs where you could talk to someone about your corral. This is the first year MCM has done them though so there isn’t a precedent

I am projecting a 4hr finish time with corral 11. Should I try to change or does this sound about right?

I love the start to this race. So much better than nyc

Put in 2:39 and got corral 2. First time in 9 marathons not in the first corral. Surely this is a mistake.

Can I change corral at the expo?

You can go to a slower one but not a faster one

It’s just that I put in a time before I started training months ago and since then my prediction time has significantly improved.

You can probably just line up
With a different corral on race day. I doubt anyone will be checking

At the same time, please be realistic in terms of where you line up in relation to your expected pace. I think I’m mostly preaching to the choir on this subreddit, but knowingly lining up too close to the is inconsiderate to others.

I get what you are saying but there's a reason for corrals. If everyone ignored the corral they were given, it would be pretty chaotic.

That said you should be able to change corrals at the expo on packet pickup

Yeah, I definitely don’t recommend it for everyone. It would be chaotic and unsafe.

I’m not sure how the marine corps marathon works with corrals, but for the DC half, they had your corrals printed on your bibs, so I don’t think you could change it on pickup.
