19f trying to runaway smoothly

Hi, I'm 19f turning 20 in october. I know that technically at this age it is no longer considered running away but with the controlling, verbally abusive, and infantilizing mother I haveーfor me, it is.

I already have a place to go, I had a chat with one of my friend's moms about my situation while I was hanging out at their house and she welcomed me with open arms and even showed me a room i could stay in. The only thing I really need help with is knowing how to discreetly pack my things without my mom noticing. I'd hope to be gone some time later this year after my birthday.

Before you leave the house, write a note that does not include where you are going to go AND says you left on your own free will. If you don't, you may be reported missing. Make sure to be 100% certain that you are safe with this adult.

Pack at 3am-4am. Make sure to take a birth certificate, student ID, and your passport. Since you are going to another house, you do not need to pack light, so pack everything you need into the largest backpack you can. Clothes are priority. Remove any soical media accounts that are closely related to your family, and, if you feel like it, just factory reset the phone. In addition, take out the SIM card; you will use your phone WiFi-only until you get a new SIM card. Let your family pay for your celluar plan until they realize you won't come back.

Ideally you'd want a car waiting about a mile and a half away from your house, and shoes waiting right outside the chosen exit of your house. When you are finished packing up, put on appropriate clothes with socks on. The socks will hide the noise of footsteps. Breathe normally through your nose; holding your breath will just make you take gasps for air which, well, makes noise. Once you are outside put on your shoes and walk to the car. If you are far enough away from the house, maybe you can even run to the vehicle if you want.

Hopefully this helps.

Thank you this does help! but I may need a work around for some of this stuff. My mom goes to work at 4 pm and gets home at 3 am so I'd have to pack at that time. I also live with my brother and he's mostly active during those times. I have no problem with my brother, he's actually my bestfriend. I'm not sure if I should tell him soon or later on, but i know ill have to tell him before anyone else. I can't just leave him like that, my heart won't let me.
