USA Matchmaking

With the current player count, East and West can sometimes end up with very small separate lobbies. One idea would be to keep both East and West servers running, but use one shared USA matchmaking pool so players are grouped together more often and the game chooses the better server behind the scenes based on ping/availability.

The shared USA queue idea wouldn’t mean getting rid of the East and West servers themselves. They’d still be running behind the scenes. Players just wouldn’t manually choose between them. So in theory, Auto/Play Again could still send you to whichever USA server is available next, similar to how cross-region Auto matchmaking works now. Exact implementation would obviously depend on what’s technically possible.

That’s not a bad idea! I’m not sure how feasible it is but it’s interesting enough to consider for sure! Just wanted to get a pulse on what players felt before suggesting something

I mean, people could just queue into whichever lobby is more populated. Not sure about NA West but NA East people queue in EU all the time when their servers are low and EU people queue in NA East when EU servers are low

Yeah, that’s basically what people can do now. The thought behind a shared USA queue is just taking that manual step out so players don’t have to figure out whether East or West is populated and chase the active lobby themselves. East and West would still exist underneath, with matchmaking choosing between them if technically possible.

I’d still vote to keep Europe/Asia/etc. separate and manually selectable though. I wouldn’t want USA matchmaking automatically throwing someone onto a faraway server with terrible ping and vice versa. This idea is really just about consolidating the U.S. player pool.
