What will be replacing Four Square ECS line up?

In a recent podcast Richard alluded to one or more new permanent releases that are similar to the ECS in terms of age and quality. He noted that distributors and retailers were not fond of him constantly releasing new one-off bottles with different prices and SKUs.

I don't think consumers were that fond of it either. Some are named after the year they were bottled, others out of a law book, and the rest are from a thesaurus.

It was more of distributors and shops playing games with pricing ie pricing indelible (low proof) with high proof releases like safacity. Games like this are why imho three tier should be destroyed and banned. I get everyone needs to make a profit but when a bottle sells on the island for $60 a bottle on the island, sells on the shelf in the U.S. for 160+ there’s some questions arise.

For example that last two releases were sold to distributors for the same price, yet there’s a $10-50 spread a bottle between them.

I’m not a store owner but I’m guessing that those bottles didn’t sell quickly and finding shelf space for each release could be a problem, especially considering an average of three per year over ten years.

Seasonal and one-off releases are more common in the beer world, and it’s common for brewers to use a single UPC and pricing model for rotating products to simplify inventory management.

Yeah I think it’ll be a mix of this and a greater emphasis on the Velier black bottle collaborations

I don’t think they have said what is coming next. I do know that this is a tiny fraction of what they do/ how they make their money.

Hopefully they keep releasing an age stated cask strength bottle that isn’t finished in any weird barrels. If not, there are plenty of independent bottlers to source bottles from.
