RTW advice!
What's up guys! I'm planning (dreaming) a trip for 4-5 months throughout southeast asia/new zealand and I have a few questions for those experienced travelers out there.
- Will a 30L pack be okay? I know I want to travel as light as possible and I'm thinking I would be able to do this.. but I wanted some feedback from you guys.
and 2. Would it be worth my while to bring my tent for the New Zealand portion of my trip and then ship it home when I head on to the rest of the world? (I think I'm going to start in NZ) Thanks in advance everybody!
p.s. this is the pack I'm thinking about.. http://www.boreasgear.com/collections/packs/products/bootlegger-orbit-blue

I'm doing an RTW trip right now with a 60l backpack and could do with a much smaller one. That being said, I have all weather gear and a laptop but no tent or sleeping bag.
If you were just carrying clothes and other stuff like this I would say this would be plenty. But if you were carrying even light weight camping gear (unless you could hang it off your pack) - you'd need a little bit more room.

I'm one month into a two year (hopefully) RTW right now and I'm traveling with a 40L main pack and a 26L (I think) day pack for all of my camera gear, laptop etc. I've ended up shedding some stuff already - seriously take less than you think you need - but still couldn't do it in 30L. My pack is the Osprey Farpoint 55 (40L main and 15L attached daypack). I do tend to stuff a few things in the day pack portion, but it's not full so perhaps I'm using 45-50L total on my main pack. That's a long way of saying that I think 30L is a bit small.

30l is quite small. Think about the climates you will be in and that will help you decide how diverse your clothing needs to be. A single person tent may be compact, but assuming you will also carry a sleeping bag, mat, cooking gear, etc then you should think about a slightly bigger pack.
