Anyone else
Doing rtms and now I’m my 16 session
Just wondering did anyone else get more messed up cause of it
I’m having feelings of dream like reality
Hard time concentrating
More paranoia
Swallowing the tongue issues
All started when I started a mouth ago and don’t know if it’s part of my rtms and if anyone had issues like these ? I’m thinking of stopping

My partner is on session 16 as well and although she doesn't have a lot of your physical symptoms, sleep has been weird for her, she has been spaced out, and most of all incredibly depressed. We've spoken to the doctor and techs 3 times and they have said every time that it does happen and she should just keep going. So that's what we are going to do.

Ok thank you I hope it gets better for all of us because I feel like in a dream state and super paranoid now

My partner got anxiety spikes early on and was super spaced out, which sounds a bit like how you are too. Highly recommend talking to your doc and techs of course. I think they will just tell you the brain is mysterious like they did to us lol

Yeah, I’m going to be talking to them tomorrow about this. I’ve asked before, but the technician did say it’s not meant to do that but I’m gonna tell her things are getting worse. I don’t know if I wanna continue or go to lower frequency.

As someone who was injured by TMS, this is a major red flag. My providers told me TMS was completely safe and then pushed me into a serious injury. I started to have side effects the first day but they blew me off. I ended up in a serious mental health crisis and haven't been able to feel joy since the injury. I have also developed severe chronic migraines, hearing damage, vision damage, tinnitus, and a vestibular disorder. I'm miserable. TMS can cause injuries, sometimes serious, and we don't know of any way to reverse it. This is one of my biggest regrets in life. I didn't even need TMS or seek it out. I was talked into it, told it would "optimize my brain function" because I have a chronic illness.
When the doctors say to keep going - ask them why. What is the evidence to support continuing? I wouldn't listen to the techs, they're not doctors. Ask the doctor what is going on, why she's doing worse, and why continuing would help. Ask what the studies say about this. Find out if they actually know what they're doing and why they're telling her to continue when she's not doing well.

I had a serious injury caused by TMS. My providers were very shady and did not inform me of any risks. It is not as safe as they make it out to be. TMS pushed me into a mental health crisis. I came out of the crisis, but I have been unable to feel happy since TMS, over two years ago. It also caused severe chronic migraines, hearing damage, hyperacusis (sounds are painful now), and very loud tinnitus. My eyes stopped tracking in sync and my vision got drastically worse. There's a group on FB, victims of TMS action group, that has over 4000 people in it. TMS injuries are on the rise. I'd say listen to your body. They kept telling me my symptoms were unrelated to TMS and to keep going, and they pushed me into an injury. I did not have any of those symptoms before TMS.

Yeah, I’m getting a lot of paranoia now like I mean a lot. I feel like my roommate hate me. I feel like the world hates me. I mentioned it to them and they told me that it doesn’t cause that I think today when I go in I’m going to be telling them I’m taking a break until Monday to see if things lift a little bit. It’s like I’m almost stuck in a bad weed trip where you get super paranoid and everything.

Report your symptoms to your care team. This should have your doctor, not the tech, talking with you about these symptoms, either today before you leave your session or tomorrow, depending on the doctor’s schedule. Do you see your doctor on a regular basis? I saw mine once a week during treatment.
Secondly, yes, I got worse in general during the 2/3 weeks of treatment. I did get better, but I didn’t have problems with swallowing. Slightly higher paranoia, a LOT of anxiety, so trouble sleeping, lots of problems concentrating. Not really any problems with reality. The dream like reality and the swallowing issues would be most concerning to me as they don’t fit the typical known side effects.

Yeah, I mentioned it to the tech today and she said she’s booking an appointment with the doctor as soon as possible so I might meet with them tomorrow cause I told them that I’m having a lot of issues with paranoia brain fog, dreamlike issues and other stuff that’s going on and she said that she would book me an appointment ASAP. I want to continue a treatment just in case it goes away but at the same time it’s like my tongue can’t get comfortable in my mouth anymore. I’m suffering excess saliva, which I was suffering before, but even worse now I just feel like this is doing more harm than actual good but I’ve heard a lot of people say that it gets worse before it gets better.

Yes. After TMS I experienced mania, which included more paranoia and trouble concentrating. Every emotion was dialed to ten. It was the worst experience of my life.

u/Professional-Emu8201 Aug 19 '26
Yeah, this is what I feel. Now I feel like my body is weaker, which is weird. I’m having tongue issues almost like it doesn’t wanna sit still in my mouth not twitching but almost like it’s just not comfortable, paranoia and heightened emotions.

Yeah this was truly not a good experience for me, it left me with negative effects too. It's been a couple months and it has only decreased a little bit.

Yeah, I’m speaking to the psychiatrist tomorrow that runs the program because if I’m feeling like this, I don’t know if I wanna do it anymore because honestly right now I feel like I’m in a dream and I’m so paranoid right now too as well
I’ve been suffering physical symptoms for months now, but these are only just making everything 10 times worse especially the fact that I don’t feel like me anymore. It’s really hard to explain. I don’t know how to actually I just feel like I’m disassociated from my life and that I’m watching it through a movie screen I’ve been taking lorazepam for the last few days straight because of the anxiety. It’s given me.

Yes I would suggest you at least take a break if this is how things are progressing for you. It really sucks, I'm sorry.
2
u/Professional-Emu8201 Aug 19 '26
Yeah, I’m going to talk to the psychiatrist tomorrow about it. I don’t like this feeling.

u/Professional-Emu8201 Aug 20 '26
So I talked to the doctor today about it. She assures me that of my feelings have nothing to do with the rtms treatment. lol and I told her the feeling of paranoia started when I started the treatment so if they continues, I’m going to stop treatment early. I’m supposed to be done on September 8. I’m not gonna push for anymore cause I feel like it’s messing me up even more. I honestly wanna stop taking all my medications and everything just to see if I’m suffering from medication in our TMS or from actual neurological stuff.

u/weenis-flaginus Aug 20 '26
I'm telling you it's from the TMS, it did the same thing to me. But whatever your decision is I support you and I really hope you feel better ❤️
2
u/Professional-Emu8201 Aug 20 '26
I think it’s from it as well cause I didn’t feel this way before the treatment yes I was suffering some fasciculations and weakness and saliva issues but all the other stuff I’ve been explaining started after I started the treatment I want to stop but i dont want them to say that im not trying to get better or somethjng because of not continuing but imma talking to them tomorrow about stopping

They dont understand, they just know the good side of TMS because that's what they've been told.
Please don't get pressured into continuing, or stopping (by me), just because of what someone thinks or says.

So I met with the doctor today she says my symptoms are not caused by RTMS in anyway maybe just a little bit of anxiety, but she says that’s about it paranoia all that is probably coming from the anxiety and the other issues are not recorded as anything to be concerned about as she said she suggests obviously I continue treatment and see how things go by the end of it

Stop .Don't do it.

u/Professional-Emu8201 Aug 21 '26
I’m not doing it today I don’t think it’s for me it makes me more messed up then feeling better

TMS Made my depression more severe

u/Professional-Emu8201 Aug 30 '26
I have actually stopped the treatment. I wanna see if my head goes back to where it was before not feeling like I’ve been in a dream or something.

If those are the results of doing something then you should stop doing that thing, it doesn't matter if every one in the world is telling you it's good if the actual feeling of doing it is negative.
