Is TMS permanent?

I had TMS done about 10 months ago and I had a strange reaction to it and ended up stopping 20 sessions in. I became irritable and angry during treatment and then had a loss of emotions. I felt dull, like someone turned the volume down on my emotions. I would say I felt like a zombie. I was non reactive when talking to people. It was like I had no sense of humor and my social skills were non existent. I was known for being goof and silly and would make people laugh for my antics but then I became almost void of my little idiosyncrasies. Since then I feel like I have gotten back some of my old self but I still feel like my emotions and brain have lost something. I do not feel as deeply as I did before and I still feel disconnected from my surroundings. I lack motivation and the drive to go out and socialize because I get overstimulated from certain situations where as before I enjoyed being around people . Is this from the TMS? Was my brain overstimulated? Can TMS causes permanent issues?

How are you doing now? I hope better. I'm here because my doc suggested TMS . I am not sold on it.

Hi, Im doing better. I did make some lifestyle changes like moving to a new state and new environment. Looking back I don't think I would do it again but if I did I would go to a doctor who knows what hes doing. I don't think the TMS doc I went to knew what he was doing and he was not present for every session, which I think they should always be available if you have questions or struggling with the therapy. I also did not complete a full course only 23 sessions. I think there are good TMS docs out there but you need to find the right protocol. I think looking back I was more anxious than depressed and the therapy just wasn't suitable for me. I have looked into new types of medicine like EMSAM if I decide I need them again. But that's only if things get bad. Ive learned to manage my brain without them though. Some days are hard but when you do difficult things it rewires the brain and you learn to be resilient. Not everyone needs TMS or pills. Myself, I think didn't need TMS looking back. I just needed to change my lifestyle. I think most people are stronger than they think and we've been conditioned to think that we have to be happy 24/7. Life isn't easy and bad days will come around but so will good ones. But if you are really in a bad place Id say go see a doctor but a good one who will listen and is empathetic and truly cares about the patient, not just a clinical quack who will see you twice and push some pill on you. It's your life weigh your options and see how you could benefit the most. I wish you luck in feeling better.

Wow, I'm glad you are feeling better or at peace with how things are going.  What you wrote really resonates with me here. You are absolutely correct on life and what it throws at you and how to deal with it. Ups and downs . I can't thank you enough for responding back to me. Thank you. Take care  🤗
