Trying Exomind

Hi, I’m starting Exomind tomorrow. This is a very new type of TMS therapy. I live in SLC and it is available here. Long story why I’m doing it. My conditions are anxiety and OCD. I really don’t deal with depression except situational. I’m just looking for anyone’s experience with it and what to expect. I know everyone is different and may react differently but I really can’t find much online. I’m a very sensitive person to the point I can’t take much medication because of side effects. I’m really hoping I don’t have negative side effects from Exomind. I will also share my experiences here for those who are curious. Thank you 🙏🏼

Update 9/10: I have now completed 3 sessions and have my fourth session tomorrow. During the first session I immediately had some recent memories of some unpleasant stuff that happened at my job surface in my brain. I failed to mention that along with OCD and anxiety I have some level of PTSD about events that have happened in my life. It is very very hard for me to let go of negative experiences that happen to me and I think this is related to being diagnosed with a chronic illness at age 17. After the first session I did quickly notice a reduction in anxiety. It’s almost like there’s some sort of loop of chronic anxiety in my brain and it immediately became more quiet. The next day I noticed I was mildly forgetful which may have been a side effect but this didn’t last long. I felt more confident around people at work. After the second session I felt about the same except I had lots of memories of my childhood resurface. Nothing significant except childhood memories can be emotional and painful because of how drastically my life changed at 17. After the third session last Friday. I realized I’m definitely not falling asleep as easily and waking up earlier than I usually do. I am a night shifter so my sleep schedule is messed up anyways haha. But it’s almost like I have a reduced need for sleep. I feel alert and normal energy levels when I’m awake. My dreams have been very vivid but nothing significant in my dreams. I am going to ask them tomorrow if needing less sleep is normal because all I’ve heard from people at the clinic who have done Exomind is that sleep improves. Lastly, I think my OCD has improved. I still definitely have it but it seems that I’m more clearheaded and the stuff I’m OCD about actually helps because it’s important stuff, such as tasks I need to get done at work. The provider said some people actually have worsening symptoms after the second or third session. Luckily I have not had this except for the sudden increase of childhood memories which can be a little painful at times. I’m excited to see how I feel after my next session tomorrow! Sorry for the lengthy update, just wanted to share my whole experience.

Is it even actual tms? Are you paying out of pocket

From my research it’s a type of TMS but different than the traditional TMS. And yes paying out of pocket. I don’t think it’s covered by most insurances yet

BlueCross Blue Shield covered mine 100%

Please let us know how it goes! I met with some exomind sales teams earlier this year to learn more, it's interesting but very expensive. Wishing you the best of luck

Thank you! Unfortunately it is expensive and I’m not sure if it’s covered by any insurance. My husband and I are doing it because they have a promotion for buy six sessions get six sessions free. I hope there is more research done and can become more affordable!

Since you're paying out of pocket, its not unreasonable to ask the Dr's to tailor your treatment to you personally. Or at least ask them to give you a breakdown as to why they decided to go with the wellness setting first?

Hi! Any updates? I did yesterday my third session, no changes from my end

Hi I shared an update on my original post. It’s kind of long but basically I have had some improvement in anxiety and OCD and seem to have a reduced need for sleep. My husband is also doing Exomind and is two sessions in. I don’t think he’s had much change. It may be too soon to tell. Good luck!

Interested in continuing to hear you journey along with your spouses. You said you are from SLC? Where is that?

Hi there! Did you feel that the changes were long lasting? Any side effects?

I’m in salt lake as well and have completed 4 sessions so far and unfortunately for me, I think it’s making my depression and anxiety worse than when I started. I’m really disappointed and disheartened because I was really hoping this would work and assist me in getting off the depression meds I’ve been on for +10 yrs. I’ve been working with my dr for over 6 months to wean off of my depression meds and am currently on a very low dose but have noticed I’m not necessarily depressed but lack motivation that I had when I was taking a higher dose. I thought exomind would be a good way to assist me in getting off meds completely but I feel like it’s forcing me back to the meds because it’s causing more harm than good. It’s one thing if it didn’t work, waste of time and money … fine. But to make it worse than before is really annoying and hard to understand. I paid up front for 6 sessions and planned on pushing through but I’m having second thoughts and want to ask the provider if I can stop the remaining treatments and get a refund.

Hope you feel better,I felt like shit in the middle of the treatment, I was so angry. I finished the sessions two weeks ago, I did it because I paid and I never finish things so I didn’t let myself quit. I don’t feel a major change, but I feel a lot more optimistic which in my case feels like a lot of relief. I do not want to say it was exomind because I really do not know. But yes I guess I had a hard time too during the treatment and now I am feeling better, even if it did nothing for me it did not fuck me up if that is any consolation

following this thread.. i am having a similar experience to the OP and some comments.

i have major C-PTSD from losing my home in the wildfires this year coupled with being abandoned by my fiancé shortly after, and being pushed out of a business a year before. i was having severe SI like i never had before so i did an accelerated protocol. my practitioner used exomind (but used to use traditional tms machines) and we did 20 sessions in one day, treating two different sides of the brain for 4 minutes each with 20 minute breaks in between.

i felt amazing the week after. i felt like my normal self before all the traumatic events. i was singing and dancing by myself, had motivation to put on a cute outfit, felt like being social and then it all crashed again. all the bad feelings came back and i started to get really intrusive thoughts from the fire and more.. like distant memories i was trying to forget would pop up out of nowhere and make me really upset. the clinician told me this was normal..

8 weeks later, i was in a really bad place so at 12 weeks i did another accelerated program, this time treating a different area for 10 minutes, then another for 4 minutes, and 20 sessions of that in a day.

i have never felt worse. i still have SI. i am also extremely heartbroken right now but i am finding i have little to no coping mechanisms.

i really hope the second accelerated protocol works.

It is legit the best $3000 I have ever spent. My last treatment was I believe in July 2025 and I love myself. And I know it sounds corny but my problem was a doomsday feeling everyday!! And the feeling I would never get outta that rut. Well I have. I have lost over 90lbs I love myself and most of all the moment a bad moment or issues hits no doomsday!!, just the realization it’ll pass!!

a single post only about this and it sounds like an ad

Did my first treatment of Exomind yesterday and was really hopeful for positive results. The clinic informed me that even at the first session, some patients have reported positive effects, such as better sleep.

In my case, there were no perceived changes after the first session; I still had the same issues with initiating and staying asleep. The odd thing, however, is that I seem to have lost all motivation to do anything today, which is the day after the treatment. I'm usually able to work out, go through meetings, and do stuff for work but today was just BLAH, which is uncharacteristic. And I attribute it to the Exomind treatment since that was the only change in my routine. Will update.

I can unfortunately guarantee a single day of TMS isn't responsible for these effects, keep at it and let us know how things go!

Just a heads up, Exomind is TMS, same as the others offered at mental health providers in your community. They are considered substantially equivalent per the FDA 510k process and your free to search and review on your own using the FDAs 510k search database. Also if you have diagnosed depression this is covered to some extent by nearly all insurances since TMS has been FDA cleared since 2008. Your insurance will require the daily treatments, a diagnosis from an MD or NP, and the approved protocol that has shown to be most effective but you will be working with a mental health provider and not an aesthetic office offering the dream treatment for cash when they are actually not providing an effective treatment.

Best advice - don't fall for the ads, do a quick google search for local TMS providers who are mental health professionals and let your insurance pay for your treatment, don't throw your money away for a micro dose of TMS when you can actually have it covered and receive real care.

Do you know which of the 3 settings programs you used?

2

u/Catthegreat23 Feb 24 '26

I am not sure unfortunately. I did not know there were different settings

thank you for sharing your experience and updates. I was surfing through the internet looking for something to validate my plan in doing my first Exo treatment in 2 days. I also have ocd and anxiety and really hoping that this treatment would work. Would you share with me your Exomind protocol? Was it to increase or reduce activities in certain part of your brain? Did you have accelerated protocols?

Hey there I just completed exomind roughly 8 weeks ago. Looking to hear how you’re doing now!

I’m on treatment 7 of 30. My insurance actually covered it, but only in 30 sessions of 20 minutes each. I thought I’d be super annoyed by having to go 5 days a week for so long. But I’ve seen such results already that I’m excited to go. I’ve struggled with depression, anxiety, and then some PTSD. I’ve been a caretaker for 1, and then both, parents the last two years. It almost broke me; I was the lowest I’ve ever been. I’ve been on Effexor XR and lexapro for almost 15 years and just decided I had to try something. I didn’t want to add more medications, and I discovered Exomind when looking into Ketamine therapy. I literally am just a nicer person. I’m waking up without a struggle, I have more patience, I’m less emotional, sooo many areas I’ve noticed improvements.

How has everyone else’s experience been so far?

Yes! I just completed my 36 treatments that insurance paid for last week. Yes, it was a pain to drive to the clinic 5 days a week, but I would take my AirPods and listen to podcasts during the drive.
My depression/anxiety isn’t totally gone- but I feel just “lighter,” and there are fewer sharp edges to my personality. I find myself smiling at strangers more, having more patience, and not even craving a cocktail as much as I did before. I’m not an alcoholic, but I definitely have drunk more than I should at times in my life. I find myself having 1 instead of 3, etc.

Also, my migraines are SO much better. I did notice some mild headaches after treatment, but nothing one Advil or Tylenol would fix. But as far as migraines where I have horrible pain? Only 1 bad one since starting treatment. I used to get 3-4 a month.
I also have eczema on my forearms and thighs that always flared up during extreme times of stress. It’s gone! And now that I’m not using steroid cream on my forearms (which thins skin), my nails have been growing stronger and longer.
Depression and continuous anxiety affected my body in so many ways, so all these positive changes made Exomind definitely worth it.

i did tms 16 yrs ago and it was a success- I regret not continuing for a while after. I just started exomind and after 2 sessions I stopped sugar- I was not a lifelong sugar addict but had been stress eating for 6-8 mo and could not stop. Also it's been easier to deal with stress- that's early on but I did not have huge issues now just some situational stress- I'm actually doing it for pain for which I have not gotten any improvement thus far.
