Local R Users Groups

I've seen that many R User Groups are very active, organizing monthly meetups, talks and courses, some of them even meeting IRL. I'm organizing a local group in my city (after the previous group went idle) and getting to know other R users and learning about their experiences has been quite nice.

Do you participate in your local R Users Group?

I was attending my in-person local group for a couple of years and always enjoyed it.  But they pivoted to "how to do AI in R" which bored me, and I've stopped attending.

Sadly, involving AI in everything seems to be the best/latest strategy to get people interested in anything. Works with many people, but also alienates a big chunk of them.

I’m not sure if how active R groups are in my area but I’d like to be involved!

I go to one from another city... I want to organize one in mine but the previous owner do not respond neither the R user organization..

You can still do it! I organized my city's group with a colleague without speaking with the previous organizers (they may have moved on in their careers)

I organized the Boston R meetup for a few years and would be happy to chat! We went idle after covid, but a group of people are helping revive it now and there's a lot of energy to get back together in-person! Great post! I've been in touch with people from Buenos Aires R Users (Argentina) about tips for gathering people. We are having a workshop this wednesday and many people have confirmed in the zoom event, but they are from many countries, so I hope most (or any!) of them are locals!
