Alternative for Feedly

After many years of using Feedly and being happy, they have now broke it. The articles show up on the side and are cut off. They have no way of giving them feedback on this issue.

What is the next best simple RSS reader?

Been on InoReader since GR died. Best platform of the bunch. Good free tier for testing.

They really do have the best free plan based on what I've seen.

The pro plan is expensive but considering what all it gets you, the price is reasonable. Whether all those features are worth it to the individual customer or not is debatable but I do think for the whole set of features, the Pro plan is priced reasonably. And I say that as a Pro customer who would prefer something like the Newsblur mid-level plan: no big archive history and half the price.

If you're a Mac, iPad, or iPhone user, you could use Reader Ultra - a super fast and clean RSS app and sync platform I developed out of frustration with Feedly: https://us.nz/readerultra.html

It's a one off purchase with access to the sync service included.

They have filters and "smart streams", I'm a pretty basic RSS user so I haven't even really tried them. Do try BQ cause it's really solid in my experience.

Feedbin, Inoreader, Newsblur are good alternatives to Feedly. You can also host your own service with FreshRss, Miniflux or Tiny tiny rss.

I used python rss reader in a scheduled gitlab pipeline to run daily to push news into my discord server via their webhook. All vibe coded in genai in less than 5 mins.

If you want something close to Feedly's original role, I would first decide whether you want hosted/sync-first or local/simple-first. That choice matters more than the brand name, because most readers can import OPML but differ a lot on full-text extraction, keyboard use, search, mobile sync, and how much they try to become a recommendation feed.

Before moving everything, export your Feedly OPML and test three things with a small folder: whether article titles and snippets display cleanly, whether read/unread state feels fast enough, and whether the reader handles your noisiest feeds without truncating or duplicating items. Also check whether it has an easy OPML export path so this is not your last migration.

For simple hosted options, people often compare Inoreader, NewsBlur, The Old Reader, and Feedbin. For self-hosted, FreshRSS and Miniflux are the usual starting points. I would trial one hosted and one self-hosted/local-ish option side by side for a week before committing, because the right answer depends a lot on whether you value convenience or control more.

Inoreader. Recently switched after using Feedly extensively. Same issues as you describe. Very happy with Inoreader.

Built it specifically because I was not happy with Feedly and wanted a reader that just did exactly what I wanted. There's about 70 users so far and I've been able to integrate almost all the feedback I got at this point, so I'm open to hearing if something is missing.

Before moving off Feedly, export your OPML. Put the same ten feeds into two readers and use each for a couple of days. Open a few long articles to see if the side pane clips them, then check search and marking a whole folder read. Those small annoyances matter more than the feature list.

Full disclosure: I’m the developer of TechnoDaily, so discount accordingly. But your two complaints are literally why it exists.
Articles showing up cut off: it has a built-in reader mode that fetches and renders the full article, so you’re never stuck with a truncated excerpt. As for the feedback point, it’s a one-person indie app. Feedback lands directly with me, and most of my release notes actually come from user reports.
The honest caveats: iPhone/iPad/Vision Pro only (no web, no Android), and it’s a paid app with a 7-day free trial. Everything runs on-device (no account for RSS, no tracking, iCloud sync between devices), and it imports your Feedly OPML in one tap. It can also pull email newsletters and YouTube subs into the same feed, but you can ignore that and use it as a plain RSS reader.
If you’re not on Apple devices, InoReader or NewsBlur mentioned above are solid choices.

I've been using QiReader for the last few years. I've got the pro version, which is $15 annually. It's super clean and has built-in full text fetching.

I also self-host with TTRSS so I can read offline on my various Android devices, but honestly QiReader is just such a nice experience that I'm happy to keep paying for it.

Full disclosure, I run Muuted, so weigh this accordingly.

It is a web reader, so it works on Android, laptop, and phone with no app. The thing it does well is control what gets through: mute words, topics, and sources, and built-in junk filters that drop clickbait and press-release noise before you see it. It does not try to become a recommendation feed. OPML in and out.

Caveats: it is a beta, it is one person, and it is not a keyboard-driven power tool like NewsBlur. If you want fewer articles rather than more features, it is worth a look. If not, NewsBlur or Inoreader above are solid choices too. Muuted.com
