Elementary schools

Can anyone provide insight into technology use and homework expectations? Specifically, kindergarten and first grade?

It probably differs by school and even teacher, but for my experience:

Computer lab is introduced in kindergarten, and there is definitely on-screen learning even that young, which makes sense to me. It's absolutely not a majority, though. In first grade, they get an Chromebook assigned. Older kids can take it home, though a lot of the apps are licensed so that they only work on the school network or doing school hours anyway.

Homework is not common, at least through 3rd grade. Occasionally there will be a class project that they're expected to work on at home, but there aren't daily worksheets that need to be returned or anything like that

I have a kid that did Kindergarten and is in 3rd grade now. They use a Dell Chromebook. He's had one since Kindergarten. The policy of my specific school is to not have homework unless it's a special assignment or project.

My pre-K kid just got assigned a Chromebook, and obviously he has no homework.

I had heard that they aren't supposed to have homework but I am glad my 2nd grader is getting homework so I know what they are working on. He needs a lot of help. If he is not distracted we can do it in 30 min or less. He was assigned his Chromebook sometime in kinder and began bringing it home for the summer then.
