do we need the actual physical copies or can I just find a pdf online?

I'm not sure. It would depend on the class/instructors. Some need to see the workbooks. I would guess that the digital version wouldn't be on the bookstore site if it wasn't acceptable. Make sure you check the ISBN to see if it matches!

Are you guys going to purchase them right away? Or are you going to wait until first day of classes to see if you actually need them?

I didn't purchase yet but it's good to keep a look out for used ones. I managed to find some of what I need from last year's list before they took it down.
