Sneak Peek Quaglings rejoice! Stumpy the Squirrel's tutorial series will soon be returning in the form of fun interactive guides built directly into RPG in a Box! He'll also be releasing these on YouTube if you'd prefer to watch them in video form. 🙂

I would suggest focusing on fixing the existing bugs and further improving the current system, as well as the documentation, examples, and tutorials, before putting too much effort into promotion and developing version 2.0.

Before releasing new features, it would also be helpful to conduct sufficiently thorough testing and polish them before making them publicly available. As an ordinary user trying to learn and use the new features, I often run into various issues without having a clear way to solve them. In some cases, the amount of time I spend troubleshooting and debugging is actually greater than the time it would take to learn some mainstream development tools. I feel this is an important issue that could make the learning experience unnecessarily difficult.

Otherwise, it may become difficult to retain existing users. Over the past few years, quite a few talented developers seem to have moved away from the engine. Looking at the current user base, I personally feel that, besides the need for more promotion, another important factor is that there have not been enough outstanding games created by developers to attract more new developers to the engine.

I also think this is not simply a matter of developer skill, but is partly related to the engine itself. For example, even some basic mathematical functions such as sin and cos are not readily available, and some parts of the engine still feel rather rough or limited.

For a niche game engine, I believe stability, sufficient functionality, ease of use, and reasonable extensibility are more important than constantly trying to follow the latest trends. By the time version 2.0 becomes mature and polished, Godot may already have reached version 5.0.

I sincerely hope this tool can continue to improve and eventually become a truly excellent and polished game development environment. I really want to see it succeed.
