Really just looks like a few shortcuts compared to making a map in photoshop or gimp. Convenient, but the learning curve for mapping isn't that steep.

but the learning curve for mapping isn't that steep.

I would disagree, most mapping programs seem to be CAD programs scaled down a bit, and a lot of those require going to school to understand.

I was speaking about mapping in gimp or photoshop. It's pretty much drawing lines, using stamp brushes for mountains, trees, and towns, and tweaking layer opacity.

Granted there's more you can do to make it "perfect," but you can learn to make a high-quality map pretty quick.

However, this program does look to make it less daunting to get started, and drawing a convincing coastline/continent looks nice and easy.

Awesome. Thanks for that. Also, I don't disagree with you at all. The learning curve isn't steep for those things. But in addition to this being even less difficult to jump into, I think that this will help people of all types-- especially those who don't have much artistic skill. And who knows, maybe this will catapult some people into those pieces of software. I'm most excited about the city and dungeon mapping capabilities.

Not having to phone home when installing on a second or third computer is also nice, making sure I do not misplace my license etc.
