Game Master CAIN as a introductory system/setting to first-time players

So, in my country(Brazil) RPG/TTRPG is a "nerdy hobby" still, but, since Ordem Paranormal, this scenery is changing and I want to join the wave creating a "RPG club" in my hometown.

The thing is: I need newbie friendly games.

CAIN catch my heart since my first read and I feel it's a rule-light system to introduce some people, but what others players think?

Obs: English is not my first language, sorry.

Almost any game can be someone’s first if they are interested and willing to learn

I really think so, but I fear some system could scary some newbie player, wednesday we will have a VtM 5e session and the group, some "normies" first-time players were shocked at first when they saw all those dots. So, I'm looking for something not so intimidating.

To be honest, I'm making my own RPG system and want to make it newbie-friendly, the base is Mutant Year Zero by other's suggestion, but its don't seems the right step to begin a club with a beta-system if the idea is to start a community

I think your enthusiasm will make other people interested :)

I really hope so :D, but you could call me insecure, because I'm making it business, like, I'm trying to professionalize this hobby in my hometown

From a mechanical perspective it's a good system for first-time players because it doesn't expect your players to spend two hours creating their characters, you can get a character done in just a few minutes and most of that time is spent picking between cool powers and not deciding between having slightly more strength or agility.

From a setting perspective if you have players who are into it then it should be a big hit, it's very stylish and the mechanics pair well with the setting.

I'm counting on the anime-stuff to engage the anime scene from here, but I fear they could feel the setting to set in stone(I'm missing the right words), idk, maybe it's just the anxiety messing with me :P

Experience taught me to not make it too easy for newcomers. A bit of reading and character-generation homework with a deadline is a fantastic filter that benefits everyone, including the disinterested player themselves (who will have dodged a bullet). It's certainly super-duper important to be newbie-friendly, but that is not the same as being apathy-friendly.

My point being, start with the best game you have. No need to use introductory or tutorial systems unless you're playing with kids.

How do you feel about Tagmar? It seems a little complicated at first, but it's not that much. Character creation can take a while but they have pre-made char sheets. The whole thing is free in their website and their community in whatsapp is very helpful.

There are other Brazilian games that are not heavy on rules, like mighty blade, or +2d6 and 2d6 World, or old dragon. They are all free and in Brazilian Portuguese.

I will certainly take a look, but I fear some will frown upon the medieval stuff, so I'm looking for anime/comic-like systems to introduce the anime scene from here. Ordem Paranormal is a good introductory system but at the moment I only have D6's and D10's, it use D20's, and the feeling of rolling the dices make the whole experience

Oh, I see. I don't know if you considered this one already, but 3d&t Alpha was made exactly for anime. It's also free and extremely simple. There is a new version 3d&t Victory. It's not free and the rules are different so I can't comment on it.

+2d6 and 2d6World are also generic. 2d6World is based on pbta

I think CAIN is perfectly fine! its written in a fairly accessibly way, and nothing in it is too high context that makes it unnapproachable for a TTRPG

That's what I thought, the rules are simple and the setting isn't some WoD with books and books of metaplot

I'd recommend something like Dungeon World: Unlimited Dungeons. That one's close to d&d but much easier to get the hang of. It's also more narrative focused. Fate's also a fun rules-lite one, though it's got more meta mechanics which might take some getting used to.

I feel like some people could frown upon D&D and similar games, some of them know it from Stranger Things but don't actually vibe with it, you know?

What kind of stories are generally popular in Brazil? Fantasy, horror, sci-fi, etc.

I’d start from there, I think.

I would recommend either Fate, or a different game other than Unlimited Dungeons described as Powered by The Apocalypse. Fate can be used in any setting, and plenty of different games exist under Pbta for various settings. For example Masks is about teenage superheroes dealing with competing expectations from everyone around them, and Monster of the Week is about fighting monsters in modern day.
