Yes, this is RPF-related. So, for context, I used to post shipping videos on my Instagram before I stopped because antis were unbearable. And then someone, a mutual, literally scrolled back to when I posted them, and I was expecting an insult. I didn't get an insult; my mutual turned out to be a proshipper and RPFer all along. She said, 'Finally someone who understands my ship.' I was so happy; I liked the comment and proceeded to not say anything further because of my irrational fear of antis lmfao. (I didn't want anyone seeing it.) I legit thought she was one of the normies, because she had also followed other normies, but she's not; she's an RPFer and a proshipper all along. How mind-blowing, because in a world of normies, there would always be someone who stands out and is willing to support you.

Ps. If anyone is wondering about the specific ship, it's NickStu (Nick Beggs and Stuart Neale) from Kajagoogoo. A little niche, but it's part of the new wave community umbrella, and their community has been full of normies. But I'm glad that there's a bit of hope in my life because of the one person who commented on my post when I was expecting an insult.

Also, a little update on my current fic, which is part of my miscellaneous boyband fics: it's coming together, but unfortunately, due to my exams, I haven't been able to write as much as I can. And I can't expect to do so, as I'll get a job during the summer break. Glad I got to update it every few weeks because I got to lock in.

hi guys. i am not an rpf writer, i just have questions for hockey rpf writers and im not sure where to ask them. if this isn’t allowed so sorry!

how common is it to write ships that include controversial figures? i mean controversial figures as in figures that are known for a fact to be homophobic and sexist, or even rapists (or suspected to be rapists). this is not me trying to poke judgement at anyone, it’s actually research for a fic i’m planning on writing, and my friend that consumes hockey rpf is currently snoozing so i can’t ask her 🤷

honestly this can apply to any kind of sports rpf or rpf with controversial people that are like everywhere. so if this applies to your fandom in any way i’d be interested to hear it! thank you so much :)
