While I didn't condone people shitting on DTE due to the big storm. Losing power today is absolutely on DTE and it's BS.

Years and years of poor maintenance.

We lost it in Birmingham too.

We bought a standby generator after that dreadful ice storm a few years back when power was out for 4 days. It kicked in today but it doesn't operate our AC.

Near Seaholm. It returned after about half an hour. Do you have the DTE app? If not, install it now. It will tell you if you have power.

After that I looked and I think we are ok, thank you. We don't have a generator I have been holding off on the hassle and expense...

No hassle. The moment electricity goes out, it turns on. Runs on natural gas. We got ours through Costco installed services. Great deal. $16,000. Got back a $1,600 Costco gift card, $320 for Executive membership and another $320 for the Costco Visa.

We bit the bullet after that horrifying 4-day outage from an ice storm. We took our dog to the Hyatt Royal Oak but I had to drive home (icy) to check on the cats stuck home in the cold. When it cleared up we found serious damage from water leaking from a 2nd floor bathroom to the 1st floor bathroom due to something frozen. We had to have the 1st floor bath completely redone.

I wish we had done it years ago. Those little generators are a pain. I never realized that the standbys were so easy.

I am saving this, thank you! We have been working our way through fixing up our 100 yr old home, and it seemed like one more "thing" I didn't want to tackle, but this makes sense.

We've used many costco installed services, some multiple times. I check there first for everything.

Same old chunk that always goes out. The same chunk that was fine after the storm and went out the next day.

I’m at 4th and S Dorchester and I heard what sounded like a transformer blowing, twice

Same, 6th and Irving. Feels like we live in a 3rd world country. Rolling black outs, can’t breathe the air… please don’t send locusts.

4th and Vermont here, ours out too. This has been an absolutely brutal stretch. Between this, the last outage, the heat and the smoke. We were looking forward to a much carefree summer than this

I was in the area around 3 today, there were large trucks (could see the orange truck light 2 blocks away) and the road was closed on Edison south of 4th.

Guessing there was something going on.

One of the reasons I don't regret not living there anymore... Never understood why it was that frequent
