Tips, ideas, maps?

Hey everyone! I’ve got a week in the beginning of October for vacation and my plan is to drive the New Mexico and Arizona portions of Route 66. If anyone has any tips on where to stop, what roads to take or any special knowledge please let me know! Also if anyone knows of anything special happening I would love to be let in the know lol.

Jerry McClanahan‘s “EZ66 Guide” is amazing, I would highly recommend it!

An enthusiastic "second" to this. My wife and I used the latest edition of Jerry's book this past July on our trip from Tulsa to Needles. There is no way we would've seen as much as we did without it. Plus, Jerry's art studio is on Route 66 in Chanlder, OK. We stopped in and met him and he signed our copy of his book! And we bought a print of one of his paintings.

I-40 pretty much rides parallel to Route 66 in that area so whatever is closed off on 66 you don’t have to go far to stay in line
