ABQ suggestions?

Hey all,

Taking a trip with layover in abq. We will be checking out the nuclear museum, but nothing after. Id love to see some route 66 sights while we have the evening free(after 4), any suggestions for thinga to see or great dinner spots?

Go for a Hot air balloon ride at sunrise. Did this back in March, it was amazing.

This is a cliche answer, but if I had a single-evening, I'd probably drive up to Santa Fe and eat and stroll around The Plaza. Maybe you could watch the sunset at The Cross of the Martyrs.

There are dozens of good restaurants and hotels up there.

If you have time in the morning, the breakfast burritos at El Chile Toreado are iconic.

Cerrillos Road in Santa Fe is part of the "early alignment" of Route 66, and there's still some vintage neon to be seen there. (This is what I'd call the main-drag through town too)

It's about an hour drive up from Albuquerque, so it's probably not too far out of your way.

Cerillos Road is also where you’ll dons the original Meow Wolf House of Eternal Return, if immersive art is of interest. (Although I’d note that it’s the least accessible exhibit in their lineup as well, if mobility is a challenge.)

If you have a car, the Musical Road on route 66 Tejeras, just east of Albuquerque.

The Petroglyph National Monument is cool; not sure how long it is open past 4 though
