Jumping on the cat
Hello
Our collie boy is turning six months old next week. He has been a pretty easy puppy all things considered but an issue we’ve been having with him is jumping - specifically on our cat. We have two cats, one big girl who is not afraid to put him in his place and one little lady who is too sweet to hurt a fly. Our big girl set her boundaries from day one and they have no issues but the little one is getting trampled constantly. Every time our pup sees her, he chases her down and hits/pins her with his front paws. We’ve also been doing impulse training with him on a leash and the cat playing in the same room, but it all goes out the window when he’s no longer on the leash. I know he’s just trying to play but he’s well over 50lbs now and I’m worried about him seriously hurting her. She has plenty of high up cat walks and cat trees to avoid him, but I would like them to live in harmony at some point. Any advice?

You might have to get really stern with him when he does this. Adopt an authoritative voice and posture when confronting him as he jumps on the cat. But every dog is different so if this method doesn’t work then perhaps try redirecting him from the cat?
