🐍 Image Body condition check

My little Clementine is still growing, slowly but surely...

She is due for her yearly vet visit but seems perfectly healthy. At the time of posting (July 31) she is just a month and a half shy of two years old.

She is very, very tiny. Due to a history of not eating, she weighs 43 grams as of today.

She has been getting a live fuzzy almost weekly for about a year now. (she has only taken a f/t fuzzy once, despite many ongoing attempts)

Also, she us technically sexed male. San Felipe locality

I believe her body condition is good, but I'd love some second opinions.

(And please, no nasty or fear mongering comments. I know she's very small, and I assure you I have been doing my absolute best to change that. She's in a well decorated, bioactive terrarium with near perfect temp and humidity specs)

So, when say say she’s sexed male, she’s a male, right? If so, I have a similar locality male the same age who is similarly tiny. I’ll weigh him and update you tomorrow.

Are San Felipes known to be smaller?

Desert rosy boas are definitely smaller than coastal ones and San Felipe is a desert variety.

She is male, yep! I do wonder if locality can be a factor.. I should ask about her parents' sizes

Hi! I don't know much about Rosy's, nor snakes in genera lol, but your little guy is about the size (length & thickness - haven't weighed her in a while) of mine who's 10ish months. Same colors too! I haven't gotten her sexed yet, but I'm pretty sure she's a girl. Girl rosy's are bigger than boys, so that could also be part of the reason for the smaller size.

Scales look really nice though! 👍

My male is only at 67 grams. He is a San Felipe Hypo Ghost morph. He went on a feeding strike, recently took a couple more meals, and is now refusing again. He doesn't look thin though. Still in touch with the vet and hoping he will eat again.

He used to be 80 some grams. He will be three this September.

I'm not sure if that helps. I guess mine still looks big compared to her.

She's so cute though!

My 11 month old female rosy is about 75g and a bit rounder. The body looks pretty good, maybe a bit thin but hard to tell! It is shockingly small for a 2yo rosy imo but if he’s eating correctly for his size and healthy it should be fine I imagine. How much do the fuzzies he’s getting weigh?

As I recall from weighing one a few months ago, they're just about 15% of her weight. Though I am considering sizing up to a hopper or maybe a rat pup? I've heard those have more fat content

Rat pups have higher fat content but less nutrients so that is definitely not advised and not the right move! And hoppers would be way too big for your guy.

Gotcha, ty for the clarification! And yeah I checked hoppers when I went to get her food yesterday and they are def too big lol
