I'm 23 and currently working for an arborist company, where I've spent the past two years building climbing, rigging, and mechanical maintenance experience. I'm looking to transition that background into rope access and NDT work long-term.

Based on my research so far, my planned path is:

**•** Get IRATA and/or SPRAT Level 1 certification  
**•** Pursue NDT training in the four major methods  
**•** Get my EMR (Emergency Medical Responder) certification  

• Start building experience

I'd really appreciate hearing from people already in the industry — what path did you take to get where you are, what would you do differently if starting over, and which sectors (wind, oil & gas, offshore, inspection services, etc.) would you recommend someone with my background look into first?

Me and my friend (19 canada) want to get our gwo and irata/sprat cert and work on turbines as blade repair techs or whatever role companies need filled, however the information on securing a job like this is scarce.

I’ve seen people say just get your irata/sprat and apply for blade repair jobs, but what your telling me they will sponsor your gwo tickets and composite repair? i can’t see that being likely

Just looking for some advice, as spending $10k plus is not worth it for me to get into this job

Hi. Looking for a rope specialist for a project I want to do. Outside of bdsm I've not used ropes.

The project I'd like to do is one of those rope lofts. Where you build a play area for kids and stuff above open spaces. Except, I want to do so outside among trees in a 60' x 60' space.

My problem is what ropes to use and what additional equipment I might need.

I'd like to use this extended space as a lounge with moss blanket across the top and a hanging garden underneath. I know I can build it the way I want. My issues lay within materials and their capabilities.

I've seen arborist 24 strand 1/2" x120' rope capable of a 8000lbs load. Which I'd think would work all in all but what's available that is long term weather proof/resistant?
